Received a call on my cell phone at 9:00 pm. Did not answer. There were 10 digits to this number and it must be a scam.

huh, i got the same call, also did not answer because it is a 10 digit number. left me a voice mail claiming to be vehicle warranty??? but what kind of a number is this??? is it possibly out of the country?

I had the same phone call. The only reason I answered was because it called me twice within 2 minutes. When I answered it told me about my warranty which I knew was clearly wrong as my vehicle is brand new. In an effort to try and figure out what type of scam this was I pressed 1 to speak to a rep when the rep came on all he said was make, model, and vin number please? I interupted him and asked what compnay he worked for and he hung up on me. It's clearly a scam but someone out there is going to fall for it.

I have also received constant calls from 442-074-5164 and other numbers with +44 at the beginning. I don't answer my cellphone unless I recognize the number. These calls are usually once a day sometimes twice a day and they let it ring to voicemail and hang up each time. I googled the number and the only thing I could find was this site with other people saying they are getting the weird calls too. I knew the second time the number called it had to be someone knowing they were calling MY number and I pretty much realize it cannot be a good thing when a strange number calls this much.
I had only given my cellphone number to literally 2 people when the calls started. I have never entered it online and the 2 people with the number are family members.
I have Virgin Mobile prepaid and I don't see how my number could have reached anyone other than someone within the company. Maybe our numbers are being sold? I wouldn't say that it too far fetched because people don't mistakenly dial and redial the same number out of the blue.

i got a call from this # at 7:37pm last night.  i didn't answer b/c i've been receiving several of these weird phone calls from numbers i don't know.  

my friend came up with an interesting theory.  some telemarketing companies pay their callers according to how many answered/received phone calls they achieve.  all they need to meet their quota is for you to answer, whether they talk to you or not.
for cell phones they'll even send you perverse text messages just so you'll call them back and yell at them.
i'm fairly confidant that in many cases it is a computer who does the calling and text messaging. i received 5 txt messages within 5 seconds that were just plain computer gibberish... i think there was a glitch in their automated nasty text message system.

my advice is DON'T ANSWER.  if you're a woman, CHANGE YOUR VOICEMAIL GREETING TO THE AMBIGUOUS COMPUTER GREETING.  once they find out you are a woman, they send the gross text messages.

eventually the calls will stop... only to be replaced by mysterious phone calls from other numbers. :-/

I received the same type of call last night.  Rather than hanging up I waited to be connected to the solicitor who asked me for the make, model, and year of my car.  As soon as I asked who she was and why she was calling me she paused, stated that her name was Shirley, and didn't say anything else.  When I asked her again why she was calling me she immediately hung up.  

It's a scam, but I don't know how they're making money on it.  Maybe they're scoping out who has the cars worth stealing?

I got a call from the same number and i didn't answer, but i did call back.  I let it ring about 5 times, and no one answered

Computer generated call about a warranty...wanted me to press one, but i hung up right away

We have been getting daily calls at our office from this number (and many others) for MONTHS warning us that "our vehicle warranty is about to expire". We just hang up on them. Maybe after the 900th hangup, they will finally get the message that we are NOT interested and are ON to their scam!

This person called my daughters phone posing as tax refund that the President just signed a few weeks ago. She gave my number to them and called me, but I didn't answer phone number looked fishy(too many numbers showed up). Can't get an answer.Thanks for this site.
