- PH (In Idaho)Caller ID listed the call from "PENTON MEDIA". I did'nt answer & they did'nt leave a message on the answering machine. We are on "the do not call list" but I'm begining to think that is also a farce.
- Caller: Penton Media ?
- Santa Monica| 2 repliesGot one as well here in CA from "Penton Media". If they are randomly calling all over the country and not leaving messages (I didn't pick up and am also on the do not call registry) AND, if Cleveland could hear people talking and phones ringing, it's almost certainly a boiler room operation. CAVEAT EMPTOR!!

- San Carlo replies to Santa Monica| 1 replyThanks. I called back to hear a recorded message saying they are confirming delivery of a magazine. I left my number because I receive T&D World magazine from Penton.
- Justin replies to San CarloYes, I too called back and it is definitely a magazine subscription service.
- MCPThey called my company asked for me by name then spoke real fast telling me they were sending me something and when I said no she continued to push. I sadly shouted "don't send me anything" and hung up. Anyone agree that we get so many telemarketing calls per day that our fuse has become very short?
- Caller: I'm a pest

- GSO userGot a call on my business number (my cell) - did not answer as I saw the caller ID. The idiots let it go through the entire VM message and them left nothing but background noise for about 30 seconds. Tried to call back and it said mailbox full. I make it a policy not to answer a number out of the area I'm not familiar with - if it's important and they really need to contact me, the caller can leave a legit message. Something needs to be done about these phone scams - Why doesn't the government clamp down the scammers?
- FDJust got a call from this number.
When I answered, a woman asked for me by name. She had no accent; English sounded as if it were her first language. Keep that in mind.
I answered, "Speaking."
She said, "I'll try back later," and hung up. - bxck65They've been calling me 3-4 times a day. I finally answered, and they wanted to "update my information" for Broadcast something something Magazine, which, naturally, I've never heard of and want no part in.
I told her as much and told her in no uncertain terms not to call me again.- Call type: Telemarketer
- MacGot a call from this number a couple of minutes ago, and when I asnwered it, there was a recoridng saying all there agents were busy, please hang on, said this twice and I hung up. - NoneyaWoman called, got pushy, pretended the magazines were "recommended" by one of the other high power managers here, even went so far as to drop a real name. This ain't my first rodeo and I knew it was BS. I pushed her for exactly who here recommended the magazines. She quit dropping names and eventually caved in and said it was "the publisher". . . I said what publisher? She says the publisher of the magazines she is sending me. Anyway, as you can see, it is a load of BS. I have heard so many variations of this particular scam. Like the "I'm gonna UPS your gift right away." Then they give you a fake UPS tracking number that's not even the correct number of digits for a UPS tracking number. LOL. Freaking Morons!

- VoltaPenton media publishes/distributes trade magazines such as Electronic Design News, Mechanical Design, Microwaves & RF etc. The publications are mainly a vehicle for advertisers. Penton robo-calls at least once every six months per publication and runs through a long list of questions regarding your position and function. This has gotten to be real annoying. There is value in their publications but that is overshadowed by the constant interruptions requesting information they already know.

- GQinABQMagazine subscription renewal service. Especially trade journals. Since many trade journals are free to the subscriber, these renewal service companies will ask for trade-related feedback in exchange for the magazine. They call several times per year to update their market research data. The calls can be annoying, but usually the magazine is worth the hassle of answering questions for 5 minutes. If not, then cancel the subscription and ask to be taken off their call list.
If the call goes to voice mail, they usually do not leave a message.- Caller: Magazine renewal service

- Fed-UpThese IDIOTS call me everyday at least one to three times each and every day! I've never seen such a persistent telemarketing scam!!! I NEVER answer calls from any caller that (1) I don't know, or (2) is shown as "UNKNOWN CALLER." If any caller is unwilling to leave a message, they don't deserve my time or attention.
