this call is from RRS - recovery receivable specialists - a collection agency calling for my ex-wife who hasn't lived in my house in over eight years and they are calling a number that i got two years after she left and they refuse to tell me how they decided to call this number since it wasn't a number when she lived here. the person asked for my ex and i said she hadn't lived here in over 8 years and the person hung up without saying a word - very rude. i called them back and told whoever answered the phone that i will not tolerate someone being that rude and if they hadn't acted that way, i'd have been glad to give them contact info but from now on if they call, i'm blowing a whistle into the phone. i've been getting calls from collection agencies for my ex on a very regular basis since she left but lately, they've been from those companies that buy bad debt that is so old it's not legally collectable and the people are extremely rude to try and bully people to pay. i will not tolerate those type people especially since it's NOT MY BAD DEBT!

If they are calling for someone else, contact them directly to have your name and phone number removed immediately. If they continue to call, report them to the BBB as well as to South Central Bell for harassing phone calls.

Also, if they continue to call even after doing all of the above, contact the FTC directly to file a formal complaint against them, as they are violating the Fair Credit Reporting Act -

RRS folks are rude and extremely vicious. They've been harassing my mother night and day and she's not a naturalized citizen.  Since there is a language barrier, RRS has taken it upon themselves to say that my mother is threatening them and in turn they have threaten us with lawsuits and court dates (which if they say to you, IS ILLEGAL).  I've reported them to SEC, FTC, and the Association of Debt Collectors.

If they call and you decide to pick up, record your message and tell them that you are recording the conversation.  And if further disruption continues, please file a complaint to as many higher ups as you can.

I get calls from this several times a week trying to collect a debt I know we do not owe.  They are very rude and will not give out any information about the date or when the charges were made they are trying to collect, they just insist we owe.  They say it's for Sears.  We've never had a Sears card. I've stopped accepting their calls and just decline when I see it come up

This debt is for a hospital bill that I actually work at. This is being payroll deducted bi-weekly and they still call. They said I would need to give them my account information through payroll and I said "Yah right!"

    Ronnie M.
My name is Ronnie. It has been brought to my attention that my rights have been breached by a debt collection company by the name of Receivable Recovery Services LLC. The account number that I was assigned by Receivable Recovery Services LLC is 451588.  I have an old medical debt from 2001 that I have been trying to pay off. I'm in the process of enlisting in the Air force, and all debts need to be paid off before processing can be finalized. The Air force runs credit, and does an extensive background check.  I have been working with Robin Majors, the case manager of Receivable Recovery Services LLC (504) 837-0116.

So far, I had never allowed or gave permission for anyone other than myself to gain access to this medical bill debt. My wife, Trinette Monticeux-Monroe was going over our expenses on 3/23/2009 at 3:40pm and called the bank, who gave her the number to Receivable Recovery Service, gave them my social security number, and was able to speak directly to Robin without my knowledge. Furthermore, Sgt. Schxxxx, the recruiting officer for the Air force called Receivable Recovery Services, spoke to Anna the operator, whom transferred him to my case manager, Robin. Sgt Schxxxx asked Robin about my debt, the amount left owed, the last payment made. "Robin M." told him that I owed $595 and that she is waiting for a payment on my account for march and that I was "late" paying Receivable Recovery Services payment arrangement towards my debt. This information is different from what I told Sgt Schxxxx because every time I made a payment towards this debt, I let him know so that we can keep my Air force application moving in a positive direction.Sgt Schmitt called me on  Wednesday 3/25/2009 at 12:57pm, wondering what is the current status on this debt account.  I told him the amount was 395.00 and according to the information that he received from Robin at Receivable Recovery SE, it still is 595.00. I confirmed with Sgt Schmitt that I made a payment on 3/12/2009 in the amount of 200.00, which brought my balance to 395.00.  My wife Trinette, called Receivable Recovery Services right away with intent to speak with Robin at 1:14pm, and she was not in the office. So she spoke to Ms. Dunn about the situation that Sgt Schmitt called in reference to my account without my permission. Ms. Dunn explained that it is "against their rules to provide any information about the content of accounts without first obtaining permission from the account holder", which would be myself. She is "confident" that Robin "never" gave information about my account to Sgt Schxxxx. However, Sgt Schxxxx is prepared to provide a written statement confirming the date, time and content of conversation between himself and Robin in regards to my debt account through Receivable Recovery Services. I did not approve at first of anyone, my wife or Sgt Schxxxx, accessing my accounts, however, I understand from my wife’s perspective in that she wanted to know where money was being sent to. Furthermore, in regards to Sgt Schmitt’s perspective in that he needs to have contact with Receivable Recovery Services directly to obtain accurate information to keep my application active. Robin either does not respect the rules of Fair Debt collections rights and laws, as well as my personal rights. I am aware that my rights have been violated. As of June 17, 2009 the entire debt is paid in full, but I intend to pursue legal action against Receivable Recovery Services LLC. I have already reported them to FTC, and BBB.

Receivable Recovery Services is vicious. Do not pay them, go back to the creditor no matter what they say to you, don't listen to them.

Receibables Recovery Services is not in business to collect, their job is to hurt people by messing up their credit reports. If they tell you they will delete information, it's a lie, you will get stuck.
They are rude, crude and they lie. Their business to is hurt consumers which they seem to enjoy it. Receivable Recovery Services tells you that they do what they do because they can.
REFUSE TO DEAL WITH THEM AND REPORT THEM TO FTC, put your complaints on the internet for others to see.
    Nasty people.

I just got one of those phone calls, and it made me LIVID!  I've been getting them for a long, long time, but since I got another one a few minutes ago, I started thinking maybe my identity has been stolen, so I called it back, since at one time there were two persons in this town with my name. The man who answered wanted my phone number and said if I would give it to him, he would find out who had called me the other times. I was scared to do that. So then he told me, "If you'll give me your number, I'll forward your call.  If not, have a nice day."   That's when I slammed the phone!  So, I won't be answering any more of these kinds of calls.  They don't sound legitimate to me.

I have been getting calls from this number for awhile now and never answer, being that i do not answer numbers i do not recognize. I let it go to voicemail and they never leave a message. If this were a legitimate debt collector they would leave a message. They will never see a dime from me.

    Word Of Advice
First, I would like to say that the purpose I decided to write about my experience with being called from (504)837-0116 is in attempt to warn, make aware, and hopefully protect anyone receiving calls from this number. I usually don't answer numbers that I don't know, as many people do... But, I was in an incredible amount of pain due to a physical illness and had just starting settling in from making it through a day of work(which can be particularly challenging for me.) So, both mentally and physically exhausted, I answered the call without really looking at the number. On the other end of the phone was a man who asked for me by my fist name. I asked who was calling and why they were calling. He gave me his name(which in the state I'm currently in escapes me, I apologize) and said he was "calling for collection," then asked if I was the person he had asked for. I said yes(as it was my first name, though he NEVER gave a last name) he then proceeded to tell me that I owed an astronomical amount of money to two different hospitals(if I do in fact owe anything to any hospitals, I'm quite confident they're no where near what he quoted and I am unaware of them, and if, in fact, there were any bills they would be from several, several years ago, all my current hospital bills I know for a fact are paid - but I went along with it just to see what he'd say) he asked me if I had received the notices in the mail. I told him I had received no such notices, to which he said he would have them sent out again(he recited my address, only the number and the street, not the city or parish or even the zip code I live in) I'd like to point out here that the man on the phone was EXTREMELY rude and almost violent in his tone of voice and this then got WORSE as he continued his inquires and lectures... He asked why I had not paid the bills, to which I calmly and honestly answered that I simply didn't have the money, I had been out of work for a very, very long period of time and now the two to three hour part time job I have doesn't even cover my cost of living. He began to go into some demoralizing rant about how those hospitals are not free, they're not charity hospitals and I should have gone to a charity hospital(And I'm putting that much nicer and in a much shorter way than was actually spoken to me on the phone, in actuality he went on for several minutes about it, talking to me like I was some low life, belittling me in any way he could.) I then told him that it wasn't like I could request where I was being taken while in an ambulance, they take you to the nearest hospital and that I wasn't even aware of any charity hospitals in my area. Then, he told me that the debts I supposedly owed were federal now and that I would be pursued. I again mentioned that I have no money. He then very snidely said that background checks had been done and they knew what I owned. At this point I actually had to laugh because I don't own anything and there is nothing in my bank account, which I told him. Might I also add, at this point, that I have had a handful of background checks done recently on me prior to his phone call, for jobs and other such instances, like volunteer work, credit checks, etc... None saying anything about what he was talking about. After my last comment to him about owning nothing and having no money, he responded with a sort of unsettling "you have a nice day"... And hung up. Did I appreciate the way I was talked to and treated on the phone, absolutely not. Did I like the fact that he told me I owed so much money and would be federally pursued, but not giving any further details, most certainly not. Did I let him get to me, anger me, or effect my mood... Absolutely not. Not that I couldn't see how angry other people get in the same situation from the harassment and treatment, I think those people are certainly justified in those emotions... I simply refused to give him the power to effect me. In fact, despite his behavior, had he stayed on the phone long enough, I'd have told him to have a nice day too - only I would have meant it. I'll wrap this up with a few words of advice(I am NOT a lawyer, this is just my own personal advice, things for you to consider.) 1)Know the statutes of limitation laws in your state. 2)Never agree to give your credit card number or pay by check over the phone to a collector. 3)Make sure the debt is valid 4)Be aware that making a "token payment" or an oral promise of payment may renew or reset the clock, or rather the time they're able to collect from you. 5)The statue of limitation starts the moment you sign a contract 6) Be aware of The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act which prohibits excessive phone calls to your home, and there are serious restrictions on calling third parties. For one, a third party may only be contacted if they are having trouble locating you. They cannot contact a neighbor, family member or your employer for the purpose of revealing that you owe a debt and shaming you to pay it.7) DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!! It would be very smart and in your best interest to not only reserech as much as you possibly can, but to also consult a lawyer, there are plenty of lawyers who will give you a free consultation. THIS PROVIDED YOU HAVE ANY REASON TO THINK YOU HAVE A DEBT - LET'S NOT FORGET DEBT COLLECTORS WILL LIE AND USE EVERY DIRTY TRICK THEY CAN THINK OF TO GET YOU TO PAY WHETHER YOU OWE MONEY OR NOT, DO NOT TAKE THEIR WORD FOR IT, INVESTIGATE FOR YOURSELF!

In past 3 weeks have rec'd at least 2 calls per week, latest being today (12/26). Each time a PRERECORDED message is left on my ANSWERING MACHINE ... which goes:
"This call if for [they mention name] ... if you are [name] press 1; para Espanol, marke el dos]"  there is pause ... then "we did not understand your response"  and the original message repeats, with another pause ... then "we did not understand your response" ..... and the call disconnects.
At no time is there any live person on the line and at no time is there an option to tell them there is no such person at this number.  Using reverse white pages (and this site) I was able to find company name and address. They will get a certified, return receipt letter, citing appropriate sections of FDCPA which are being violated.  As "Word of Advice" states above ... know your rights under the act and report this malicious activity.

As soon as I checked other postings about this number here at 800notes, I knew this was a fake. The postings identified his as Receivable Recovery Services, LLC, a collection agency. I have no outstanding debts except a car loan, which I am paying off in increments. -- I suspect that this has to do with harassing phone calls I received beginning in 2007 when AT&T assigned me a new home phone number -- and it turned out that the number had formerly belonged to a deadbeat "Angela". (Angela's...ahem...customers called me a couple of times, too, until they got the message that Angela doesn't own this number any more.) I finally spoke to a collection agent and told him that until 2007, I had never owned my number; someone else had owned it beforehand. NOTE: I cussed out the youngish-voiced white female caller and hung up.

My friend here, Door2Door, has posted about being harassed by calls from this number, which is from Receivable Recovery Services, LLC. I would like to point out that this very day I have been also deluged with phone calls from this RRS.

There is much more to this story. Suffice it to say that these attacks against both of us are no coincidences.

I am a friend of Door2Door and Patricia S. The building in which the offices of RRS are housed are a short walk away from where I live. I'm tempted to march over there, go up to their offices, and while being very polite, speak up for my friends!
