- in MNI just received the same call with the same number 509-295-6828, they got upset with me when I started asking questions, I googled the number while I was on the phone with them and then told them I wasn't interested and to not call my number again.
- JosephThey called me at 1:00 pm then at 1:30pm from a blocked caller. The 2nd time they called I answered. I assumed that it was legit because I have been applying for grants online here recently. They knew my name, residential address, and email address. I can't believe I gave my info so willingly... What should I do?
- lusyi just call them back and tell them that im reporting this number to the police and person i was talking to hang up the phone lol dont give ur inf out this is a scam..

‘Free Government Grants’: Don’t Take Them For Grant-ed
“Because you pay your income taxes on time, you have been awarded a free $12,500 government grant! To get your grant, simply give us your checking account information, and we will direct-deposit the grant into your bank account!”
Sometimes, it’s an ad that claims you will qualify to receive a “free grant” to pay for education costs, home repairs, home business expenses, or unpaid bills. Other times, it’s a phone call supposedly from a “government” agency or some other organization with an official sounding name. In either case, the claim is the same: your application for a grant is guaranteed to be accepted, and you’ll never have to pay the money back.
Don’t give out your bank account information to anyone you don’t know. Scammers pressure people to divulge their bank account information so that they can steal the money in the account. Always keep your bank account information confidential. Don’t share it unless you are familiar with the company and know why the information is necessary.
Don’t pay any money for a “free” government grant. If you have to pay money to claim a “free” government grant, it isn’t really free. A real government agency won’t ask you to pay a processing fee for a grant that you have already been awarded — or to pay for a list of grant-making institutions. The names of agencies and foundations that award grants are available for free at any public library or on the Internet. The only official access point for all federal grant-making agencies is www.grants.gov.
Look-alikes aren’t the real thing. Just because the caller says he’s from the “Federal Grants Administration” doesn’t mean that he is. There is no such government agency. Take a moment to check the blue pages in your telephone directory to bear out your hunch — or not.
Phone numbers can deceive. Some con artists use Internet technology to disguise their area code in caller ID systems. Although it may look like they’re calling from Washington, DC, they could be calling from anywhere in the world. - grant scams replies to LSAlthough government grant scams have been around almost as long as the government itself, the majority of the sites being advertised today didn't exist before the November 2008 election. When asked how I would like to be paid, I told them western union would be fine.
And before I called is 509 phone number, I checked out the internet for phone information.
However my comment to everyone out there is Why would you ever give your checking account number to a complete stranger on the phone !?
P s I actually received a phone number from a caller unknown Telling me to call back the phone number I listed above. Whenever I have any questions I never just call a phone number or give information, I always check the internet to see if their company is fraudulent, and then I call them back to give them the same favor. I tell them that your phone has been reported into a FBI database, and that they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and that all of the reports, can and will be used as evidence in a court of law. messing with them can be such a rewarding experience, lol. I should remind you Being a lady with manners, I do believe you should thank him and they have a nice day!- Caller: Federal Grant department

- Yesenia| 1 replyI relieved a call just now at 11:42 pm on October 30th 2012 ....509-295-6828 is the number they provided said I had received a grant in the amount of 7,800 from the U. S government. Specified I was chosen out of so many people ....said for me to put money to good use such as medical bills, bills in general, put for house payment, if filling for bankruptcy ect. Money can not be use for gambling and so forth. Anyways so the representative asked how I would like to receive my money through western union or I could provide debit card information. For a moment was going to give the debit info but decided not too. I was still too skeptical so I went with the whole western union thing. Lady gave me a confirmation code and a call back that I provided earlier. Told me a manger would be contacted me with further instruction and info to proceed in receiving money. I couldn't wait so i decided to call the number myself got a male representative and sounded like a call center so he went ahead a stated that I had to pay like 275 dollars when I got to western union and that it was refundable said I didn't have the money he told me that it was for services fees or some b. s told him again well if its a grant money which I have received before for school such as the Pell grant I didn't have to pay a penny and received a check. He insisted that I had to pay or I wouldn't receive money and that he would stay on the line until I got the money... This is what I think although it may sound great I do think it may be a scam.. I should call the local news to do a story on this and get to the bottom of this.. Just to be on the safe side don't give them your personal information. Do some research first and then decided what you want to do. I was looking for some answers a cane across this website... So I don't know... I rather be safe then sorry
- yessie replies to YeseniaBtw it was kinda hard to understand them as we'll.. Sound like they were Nigerian and we all know ( not to stereotype or anything) but a lot if those people are scammers.
