Received a Text Message saying:

NETSPEND NOTICE: Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED.  Please call (512)x541-2139.

When I dialed it to find out what it was, the message said: "Thank you for calling Netspend.  24 hours card activation service.  Please enter your 16 digits card number."

Not entering anything gets you silence, pressing zero doesn't do anything.  I hit pound and it told me it was an invalid card number.

Got text message saying:

NOTICE / NETSPEND: Your CARD has been BIocked.  Please call: 512-541-2139.

Notice that "Blocked" is spelled with a capital i instead of an L.  Contacting the Attorney General about it.

got a text message that says notice@tmomail.net / NOTICE NETSPEND:  Your CARD has been Blocked. Please call 512-541-2139. I looked up the tmomail.net and it didn't seem legit....just doesn't seem right. Don't give out any information.

got one from N.E.T.S.P.E.N.D card temporary Blocked please call 512-541-2139 very supcious
ignored it.

Called Verizon about this, and this is NOT one of their employees, nor do they know the number. HOWEVER, it is in Austin Texas, and so am I. So I'm going to find this person. Thanks.

Got a text saying my card had been blocked. Not going to give them anything.

I received a text message telling me "Your N.E.T.S.P.E.N.D. card has been temporary (sic) Blocked. I have not subsribed to this card.

card blocked/same spelling-netspend-do not have card/after time date info it says "From 3608"

I don't EVEN have a NETSPEND CARD (prepaid credit card)...so I know it's a scam.  Ignore it.

I don't even have a NETSPEND card and I'm in Austin as well.  Strange.

I just received a text message from lisa@vzwpix.com of NETSPEND that my card had been blocked, and for me to  to call (512) 541-2139.  I called the number and it asked for the card 16 diget numbers!  I have no card from this company and I do not know how this person got my cell phone number.

Called the real Verizon and reported it.

Apparently they're A+ rated with the BBB.

Since this message came in on my wife's cell phone and the sender was Info@verizonwireless.com I would assume verizon sold our info to them which I am not happy at all about.

If you would like to opt-out from netspend you can call them @ (512) 532-8308

While they're A+ rated with the BBB they're still a shady business taking advantage of people's ignorance. Verizon just went way dow in our opinion because of this.

Quick research on several phone reverse number lookups showed owner in downtown Austin area listed as Cellco Partnership - dba Verizon.  No address listed but arial view looked to be near Airport and I35 in a home valued at $199K. Called credit card companies to warn.  NETSPEND has long list of people on line who have been ripped off, part by charge and part by people buying Debit Cards using Credit Card monies from stolen cards.

Just got a text same as everyone else how the crap did the get my cell....I live in san antonio...and I have tmobile.....I hate scammers stupid [***] can't wait till your caught....texas prison is a nasty place for morons like this...

I contacted the customer service # from your link and the lady i spoke with said " Oh I see.... you ment netspend this is net spend" and then she spelled it for me. same spelling......what a joke
