Yet another scammer trying to collect payday loans that were paid off years ago. Block!

I got a call from this number and was told I'd be arrested for fraud stating I wrote a bad check from a bank I never even had a checking account with.   I called the bank because it was years ago that I dealt with them and confirmed I only had a savings account there.  They did say it was also a payday loan.  

Total scam.   They are just trying to scare you into paying them something.   Arrests are handled by police and prosecutions for bad check writing are handled by public prosecutors.  These  debt scammers always try to magically transform a civil debt into a criminal charge and then start throwing around terms like "arrest" and "charges" and "warrants" and all that sort of thing.  You can't be arrested for being in ordinary civil debt.  IN any event debt collectors have no influence or connections with either the police or public prosecutors.  

If they call you again, tell 'em you're going to file extortion charges with the local police.    Otherwise don't talk to these people, don't return their calls.  Block their calls.

These people called me today and said they had 4 felonies on their desk and that I needed to take down some information. They said that the felonies would be turned over to the district attorney if I didn't. Total extortion.
