Halston Financial out of Austin,Texas area. Very rude,very short tempered person I dealt with. Tried to get me to pay for an ER visit from over 2 years ago that my insurance (Mediacaid) is responsible for. Not sure if this call center or business is an actual scammer,but definitely unpolite!

The only one I can find is this company in Austin Texas, lists an address in a residential area.  Not much on them, claim to be in business 7 years, but no BBB page.http://www.manta.com/c/mx4f111/halsted-financial-services.  I can't find a registration for them which would mean that they are not legally allowed to conduct business.  In any case, since you talked to them, they must do the following by law:
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Just got a call from this number. Readout says Nextiva Inc which is a communication co. Must be a sales call.

It is a financial recovery company. A debt collector. Do not answer

Same thing no answer, no voicemail and they've called many times.

Didn't answer, no caller ID or voice mail, but additional research shows this to be "Halstead Financial" (a debt collector I mistakenly did business with in the past). DO NOT ACCEPT ANY OFFERS, they will take your money and not apply it to whatever debt they are supposedly collecting. I cancelled the account I was paying from because I found out they were not the company authorized by the original debtor to perform collections. They did have all the information on my debt, but appear to have purchased my debt from another debt collector, and are now hounding me to continue payment to them. They refuse to pay the original account off and have no authority to collect this debt.

They call and say nothing. I've asked them to stop but they keep calling. I want to file suite.

They called me and when I answer they say nothing and hang up....

Even if I owe a bill, I never pay the collection agency.  I make arrangements with the person I owe the debt to and ask them to pull the account from the collection agency.  They may not get the amount they want per month, but at least I'm trying and they are receiving the full payment.  Not some company that verbally abuses people to get them to pay.

this # keeps calling me but does not leave message, when calling back there is no mini miranda. This man is just so rude, i have asked to stop calling, he says he is not. but will not say who he is but wants to confirm who I am, read off the last of ssn, trying to get to verify. He does not say who he is or where is calling from. Is this even legal?
