- zenone replies to fnordPuppy scam. Location for puppy was inconsistent. Went from Peoria, IL to Springfield, MO to St Louis, MO. Wanted a cash app or Paypal reservation of $150 which was be taken out of the total and 100% refundable. BEWARE!!!!!
- Kris| 2 repliesInsisted on "refundable deposit" without meeting pup first. Even provided a fake local address but wouldn't meet until I gave deposit.
- Nimrod replies to KrisRather than take a chance on being scammed, go to your local animal shelter or rescue to get a pet. You will be able to meet your potential pet and know just what your will be getting (without having to give a "refundable deposit").
- Lisa Lake replies to KrisI'm curious about the location you were told. I was told winter garden Florida
- N/AAsked me for a deposit before seeing pup. Said that’s how she’s being doing it and no one else has a problem. Clearly this person is a scam artist!

- Caroline| 2 repliesResponded to her ad on craigslist regarding a shihtzu puppy, she asked for a 50% deposit to reserve puppy and the rest when i pick up the puppy. I was so excited getting the puppy and never crossed my mind that this could be a scam. So I sent her $250 on paypal, these are her exact words, "Please send as a friends and family because im not regular seller and this is personal account not business. I like to do the deal easily and confirm it without hassle.". In the end, I knew why. But what happened after I sent the money, PayPal did a 48 hours security verification which has been cleared, and $250 was successfully sent. I texted the lady again and this time, I feel something fishy is going on. That's how I found out this is a scam. The reason why she wanted me to send money as friends and family is because PayPal will not refund the amount or cover the cost if something happens. If I sent the money as a purchase from a merchant or seller, then PayPal will be able to help me get my money back. I am so angry and disappointed with this situation! I was robbed $250!!!! I worked hard for 2 days to earn that :((

- Tygerkat replies to Caroline| 1 replyWhy would you pay money for a puppy you've never seen in person?! You have no guarantee as to the health and condition of the puppy - or if it even exists!
Go to your local shelter or rescue for your puppy. If you must have a ShihTzu, there are breed specific rescues. - Caroline replies to Tygerkat.. i know.. but my family and I are looking for a toddler puppy and we only want a small dog. I checked my local shelter, and dogs that are available for adoption are the ones 7, 10, 15 year-olds and usually large breeds.
6 years ago, I got a baby chihuahua from craigslist, fee was only $80 and it was a smooth transaction. That's why I tried craigslist again for the second time..but I got scammed :( I messaged my bank to file a dispute and messaged paypal to file a dispute as well.
This morning the scammer texted me asking when we will meet but I am very hesitant because the complaints said she give different places etc... and I do not want to waste my time. - CBFake Craigslist ad for Shih Tzu puppy, Atlanta Ga.
