516-453-6843 called my cell phone and wouldn't speak when I answered the phone.

I have gotten three calls from this number. They never leave a message.

I keep getting calls from this number.  They call at least twice a day and don't leave a message.  What is is and why are they calling me?

Direct TV...  I just called them back, and it was for sure DIRECT TV.

I didn't call them back, but i did try to setup a Direct TV account recently and didn't, so I would say Danny's probably right on the money.

IT IS DIRECT TV. IF YOU CALLED THEM ONCE AT SOME POINT THEY WILL KEEP CALLING UNTIL YOU CALL THEM BACK AN TELL THEM TO STOP CALLING, IT WILL TAKE 7-10 DAYS TO TAKE AFFECT

Got a call from this number. Checked out the reported calls from this site, and saw that it came from DirectTV. Called them back and they reassured me they wouldn't call. I called them earlier this week to explore installing their service, they were just following up. I hope they won't call again.

I have received at least 5 calls a day for 2 weeks now. Everyone is correct--this is definitely Direct TV. I followed-up someone's advice--called back and asked them to stop calling. They said they would put my name on the "Do Not Call" list (which I've already done) and it would take 7-10 days. I explained that this very strange approach to reconnect with propspective customers should be revisited.

Called and refused to leave message and when I called them back they hung up.

I am not the victim of these irritating calls.  Get these:  The employees are NOT allowed to leave voice mail messages.  What kind of company policy is this?  I had researched about switching to Direct TV but no longer.  

Talk about the potential of 'customer no-service'

Also receiving annoying multiple calls a day from this number.  Thanks for all of your information and responses.  I called to check about getting service about a week ago.  Will NEVER make that mistake again and will call to try to get on the do not call list.

Glad I read this thread.  Was considering direct tv.   Specifically told them I didn't want to be contacted by phone.  Now, they are telemarketing anyway.   I'll never use them and will consider other action.

They sent me a special in the mail for $29.99 a month to get all NFL games, I called the number and found it was a scam, they wanted thousands of dollars, would not talk about the special they offered me in the mail.  Discovering this company's offerings are a scam, I hung up on them, and they call me day and night since with robocalls, even though I've contacted them to say I don't want the calls.  They are liars, scam artists and completely unethical.  I am a combat vet with PTSD and it is maddening to know before I finish this sentence the scumbags will call again to bother me.  There is no message, just the phone ringing all the time to bother me, plain and simple.  Either you submit to their scam or they will bother you forever.  I was told last week they would stop, but the calls keep coming.  Tell your friends, don't ever call Direc TV!

Direct TV . . . My story is the same as most of yours.  I, too, called to inquire about signing up for service that was advertised on brochure.  Got fed up with their manipulating the figures and not being able to give me direct answers to my questions.  They finally said they'd have to get the answers and call me right back.  Four days later I started getting calls on my home phone trying to sign me up.  I just laughed and said "No Thanks" & hung up.  Now they are calling my cell phone and the "message" left on my voice mail is just continual music.  Damn these people!

Received 2 calls today from this number, they never left a message.  Think its Direct TV,  I contacted them last week and  said no thanks to the promo.  Go figure!

Unwanted calls each day with hangup when I answer.  Hey US Government, forget wars overseas, protect us here.

Got a call from this number and answerd. They hung up.

And after reading the other posts, I did call Direct Tv to do some price comparisons, but didn't sign up for anything.
