Nobody is a mindreader so we can't say wothout proof that these callers are scammers. Maybe they are truly wanting to help people consolidate their loans or to help lower their interest on their credit cards. Why must people "rise to the occasion" and immediately think that all telemarketers are out to get you. This just isn't so.

First and foremost: Be nice to the callers. They are no singling you out. They have nothing against you. Why be angry with someone you don't even know? Talk with the caller and explain your situation. More often than not they'll say they're sorry for the calls and delete your number. I can't tell you how many times this has worked for me.

Telemarketers are only human and they're hardworking, productive members of society trying to make ends meet just like most of us do.

So the next time you get one of those "unusual" numbers calling you,  answer and please be patient and wait for a caller to pick up their line. When you get someone on the line just be cool and mature. By discussing things in a rational, logical manner with the caller by explaining to them that you're not interested in their services and that you'd appreciate your phone number removed from their caller list will resolve any future calls from coming.

A sour, combative attitude never solves anything.

    Peace

Wow - how stupid do you think readers of this forum are?  Nobody legitimate cold calls people offering to lower interest rates or consolidate loans.  Nobody.  Telemarketers are productive members of society - really? What a joke!
I pay for my phone service for MY convenience, not for the convenience of telemarketers.  I have NO obligation to even answer my phone, let alone wait patiently while the illegal robodialler may or may not connect me to a live person.  Asking to be removed from the call list hardly ever works.  Most of these telemarketers already call people on the federal DNC list in the first place - they certainly aren't going to respect a DNC request from an individual.
You are either naive or a telemarketer yourself.

How ironic is this.  I received a phone call from 516-472-9017 today.  Knowing that it is the same phone call I get from different numbers on a continuous basis, I let the phone ring and did my usual call back to unsubscribe from the call list.  IT IS NO LONGER IN SERVICE IMMEDIATELY A LOOOONG ONE MINUTE LATER!!!!!  And I called three times to make sure I was hearing correctly.  #$%%@$%@$%$!!!!!!

It IS ALL A SCAM FOLKS! replies to Don't Worry, Be Happy
They are scammers. First of all, telemarketing robo calls are illegal. Know your laws. Secondly, when a recipient request that their number be taken off the list, they should oblige. Thirdly, it is against the law to post fake numbers, provide fake company info, and to provide fake illegal services. Fourth, obvsious scam when they continue after 1,2,3, is realized. Plus, why would they just hang up on you and provide false information, then call you back using another fake number violating 1 and 2 and 3?

It IS ALL A SCAM FOLKS!
    PLEASE READ!!!! WARNING SCAM!!!!

First of all, there is no financial stimulus, never was.

Ignore the calls. They are all the same. Fake number, same caller ID, all robo calls. Dont call the number back, dont mess with them by wasting their time, dont press any numbers. Plainly ignore. If you have recieved one, TRUST ME, you will recieve many more. They call from various numbers (which isnt where the call originates), so blocking is pointless. But the signs of the caller are all the same. Card services, out of area caller, robo call.

They are criminals. They are looking for credit card numbers for personal use. Long story short, technology, criminal networks, desperation, gullible people, and lacking Federal laws, keeps this scam going. However, every major newspaper and 24 hour news organization as well as 7 o'clock news has reported on this scam at least twice this year alone. PLEASE, do a simple google search on Rachael/Heather, Card Services scam. SADLY, people still fall for them. Telemarketing robo calls are illegal. Period. These criminals are not going to stop calling, becuase they are criminals. A computer does all the work. A computer has no feelings, nor does the criminals behind the phone. All they want is your money. They continue to call becuase it is cheap to do, but more so, EVERY SINGLE DAY someone falls for it. Cha-ching to them, and that keeps the calls coming. Never ever, ever, especially in this day and age give out personal information over the phone. Please repeat that last sentence to the elderly and other gullible persons. NEVER EVER GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE. Not to creditors, not to charities, not to bill collectors. KNOW YOUR LAWS. Expecially to random robo call telemarketers. Warning others of this scam helps TREMENDOUSLY. We have to get people to stop falling for this illegal operation(s).

Please, as useless as it may feel, continue to report to the DNC list, even to your States Attorney Generals Offices. But also, you can contact your phone carrier/provider and notify them. (or *57 after the call is made). If you have spare time, write your congressman regarding your experience and document every call. Even if you dont receive it, check your caller ID and report the call and document. AND YES, THE FTC Is offering a $50K reward catching these criminals.

Report and Warn. Please I employ every one to visit the FTC, FBI website and the DNC list for more information.

    Thanks
