A man with an indian accent, claiming to be with ACS called me and stated that we were being sued for owed cash to a payday loan. He was very rude, and cussed out my wife, and myself. We had a loan store that used to do business with give them a call back, because we thought it was a mistake. The manager called them, and pretended to be us. The indian accented man, by the name of Bryan Smith, cussed her out and hung up on her. We called them back and found that they were calling on the behalf of the Cash Advance USA corporation. This is 100% bull because they refuse to send any documentation, and when asked to speak to a supervisor, they don't have one. I asked for the parent company name, and they gave me another number that turned out o be ACS again. I am reporting these people as a scam, and possibly a homeland security threat, considering the amount of information they have about my wife and I.

I received a call from a company that claimed to be a law firm telling me that I had defaulted on a payday loan in February of 09.  I asked them for the company name which he said was advance cash usa.  I called the number 516-833-3191.  Another foreigner answered telling me all of my information including my social security number!!  He said that I had defaulted on a loan in february of 09 (not true!!)  I asked him for my account number and he gave me an account number that i closed last year.  I hung up!!  It scares me that they have all my information.  I know that was a scam.

BBB Alerts About Phony Debt Collectors

    6 Aug 2009
Better Business Bureau has issued a national alert about phony debt collectors that are calling consumers nationwide and claiming that they have defaulted on a payday loan and will be arrested if they don’t pay immediately.

Claiming to be lawyers, the scammers say they are with the “Financial Accountability Association” or the “Federal Legislation of Unsecured Loans” and often have the victim’s Social Security, old bank account numbers or driver’s license numbers as well as home addresses, employer information and even the names of personal friends and professional references.

They're baaaaaaack!!!!  They have been harassing me since January of this year and I actually had a composed conversation with them today.... UNTIL... after once again asking for something in writing for the umpteenth time, he proceeded to call me a fraud, threatened to call my friends and family and tell them that I was a fraud (which not the case). So I called him everything but a child of God and he said some jibberish and hung up!  Of course 5 seconds later it was disconnected....  Needless to say, If you are a smart consumer, like myself, you know that they have to read a statement acknowledging the call as an attempt to collect a debt (this is FEDERAL LAW!!! but, I guess they are not from the states).  They will have jobs oiling the gates to hell in no time soon if they keep it up!  (Call was from 813-319-2652)

Phone number comes up as (524) 973-47, 21260250780, 40300241980, 88620279565 (WTF?) and they say they're from ACS. Guys with thick Indian accents started calling my husband's cell phone 11/02/2010, asking to speak to him. The first message they left was almost completely inaudible, the accents were so thick. Next time they called, I spoke to them, told them that nobody by his name was at that number and to not call back (lie, but obviously not a real company, either). They called back not five minutes later and tried to be consoling; I told the guy that if he called back again, I'd report him to the BBB and our local police department. I also said some other things involving legal threats and other [***]. Said something about a legal file, had me talk to his "boss" - some guy named Andy (yeah, right!) that I could audibly hear him passing information to in the background before he passed off the phone. Pwn'd. No callbacks thus far, but if they DO call back, you can bet I won't be half as "nice" as I was ten minutes ago. :/
