they said i owe them money and wanted payment over the fone. asked for proof through fax copy but person was unable to provide me with evidence.

This person also called my work, trying to pose as law enforcement officials, saying that I owe them money to "stay out of trouble".  He has changed his name from Officer Jeff Morrison to Jim Morrison now.  I called the Fort Collins Police Dept over this since this person (who spoke very broken English) DID somehow have my home address, last 4 digits of my social security number, and my home and work phone numbers.  I'm thinking this was a result of a hack over the Internet but hopefully no one falls for this terrorist!

Had the same thing happen to me and my sister. I went to our police department and explained that he was posing as an officer. The officer called and he quickly changed his tune and dropped the officer in front of his name. She went on to ask him what it was in reference to, he had no info. She told him that if he didn't stop they would open an investigation against him. He hung up. AND he had the nerve to call my sister again this morning threatening her to pay this bill or else. Who are these people and what right do they have. Get a real job and stop stealing from others!!

call was broken english sayed something about possiable law suit against my wife last name incorrect no company name given he goes by the name John Peterson at this time!

I also recieved several call from a foreigner with a heavy accent saying that his name was Jack. (funny) but he would not give me a last name, a office name other than advance america cash advance, ( I never had a cash advance in my life) claiming that I owed money and that I would be jailed. Also he claimed to be reading my affidavit over the phone. he would not even send me a faxed copy of it. I havent given them any money but the guy had my address and my full social. Lucky for me my mother in law is a commerial crime detective. The advice I recieved was UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE give money unless you were served with legal paper. Call your local social security office and make them aware of the situation and that someone has you social security #. After that is done you have nothing else ot worry about. If the people continue to call tell them that you contacted the police and they are tracking them. That will get them to stop calling. Hope this was helpful to everyone.

I've received calls from this number at home and work from Detective Sean Peterson and Officer John Miller saying they're representing Advance America and that they are about to sue me. They rattle off the last four of my Social Security Number and say they will take me to court and garnish my wages at work. I called Advance America to confirm that they aren't representing them, and I reported their number to the Federal Trade Commission at (877) 382-4357. I suggest others call the FTC as well.

I also got a call from this Sean Peterson at my work number and he left a message saying it was an emergency. I called him back and got the same runaround as listed above. He had ALL of my personal identity numbers. I reproted the call to the FTC. Apparently they are either getting the data from Advance America or else hacking into the internet somehow. What a bunch of scumbags!

I have been recieving calls from this same number 1-516-833-3490 and I live in kentucky. He is very rude and never gives his name or what company he represents. States I owe money and I will be arrested. He cursed at me and hung up the phone. He has repeatly called everyday.

Heavy Indian accent, calling himself "Officer Smith". He's called so many times he's blocking both lines at our workplace.  We've reminded him every time that this is a place of business he's calling yet he still calls everyday. How many times do we have to report this guy?

Im glad that i got this cause i kept getting calls saying that i did fraud and if i dont pay money to them they will take me to court and have me put in jail. they have been doing this to me for along time now and i was so scared one time i gave them my bank info but i got told by them i had to call my bank to allow them to take money out and i never did. they just called my daughters boyfriend a few mins ago and said i had him as a reference. the funny thing is when i supposibly of done this loan my daughters bf was not in the picture. I dont know but i want this person to leave me alone. i have never done this crap and it needs to stop. i was willing to pay some money cause they said i was going to go to jail and i have a daughter with medical probs. i am so thankful i looked this up cause i could of been giving some money away to crooks that i need for my daughter. its not right that ppl go and pose as cops to steal money from ppl. i just wish i could find a way to get him to stop calling me and my family.

I called for a friend cuz he has been harrasing her for weeks. He answered "hello" I asked who I was speaking to and he told me Law Offices of Adam Smith. I gave my name and asked for his address (my friend is waitng for the police to make a report) he said he is in ny and wouldn't give me his address and wanted my address. I hung up and now he is repeatingly calling and left a message threating me on my voicemail. Cute just for helping out a freind.
