- bushwah| 1 replyI've been chatting with these scammers this morning. They now call almost every morning, between 6 and 9 AM. (I answer long distance calls because I work freelance and because I have very ill family members.) Good old Sean, Sam and Eric. It seems the boiler rooms in India are up and running again.
This morning, the automated voice gave this phone number for call-back. So after instructing Sam to bend over and insert a pencil, when he called, I called this number back (from an untraceable phone) and asked Eric how Sam was doing with the pencil up his ... jacksie. Eric hung up on me.
And what fun -- the number is now out of service when I call it. Anybody able to reach it today?
A call to the supposed number the last call came in from, 647-903-3003 -- got dead air.
I will be finding out what provider in Canada owns 519-398-1988, because this is NOT a spoofed number: they answered when I called it. The provider is selling numbers to international criminals.
And make no mistake. These are not just annoyances. This is organized crime, making huge amounts of money. And our governments and telecoms DO NOTHING about it except repeat their stupid platitudes about not giving personal info to strangers.- Caller: visa scam

- bushwahFollowing on my previous message: this number is owned by Telus.
https://www.datacorelookup.com/Phone/519-398-1988
Evidently, the criminals blocked the number I called from first, because I was able to get a ring when I dialed from the phone on which I received the call. I then received another call from the criminals.
Please, anyone being victimized by these calls, follow the instructions here for demanding action from Telus:
https://www.telus.com/en/about/security/report-a-problem
Those instructions are for Telus customers, not for people being victimized by Telus customers, but I figure an email to abuse@telus.com will at least be read someday.
My email to Telus reads as follows:
===============================
According to info online,
https://www.datacorelookup.com/Phone/
this number is owned by Telus.
Like many Canadians, I am receiving daily early-morning calls from the VISA scam boiler rooms in India.
This morning, the automated voice gave this number for call-backs, before I pressed 1 and spoke with Sam, who eventually hung up on me.
I called this number back. I asked "Eric" how "Sam" was doing, with the writing implement that I had instructed him to insert in his rectum, because I was quite concerned for his comfort. I was eventually hung up on, of course.
I see from reporting online that others have succeeded in reaching the scammers by dialing this number.
When I redial the number now from the phone I used for that call, I am informed that it is no longer service.
When I redial from the phone on which I received the call, it rings. Evidently, the scammers blocked my other number after our conversation.
Other calls this morning were recorded as coming from other numbers.
Because I work freelance and because I have very ill family members in other area codes, I cannot allow long-distance calls, even from unknown numbers, to go unanswered.
To make this quite plain: My call was answered when I dialed this number, so it IS NOT a spoofed number. It is a Telus-owned number being used by organized criminals to commit crimes against Canadians.
Because of my responses to these calls, I am receiving calls this morning from these criminals at the rate of about once every five minutes.
I require a response stating exactly what Telus is doing to stop this criminal use of its telephone services.
Thank you.- Caller: visa scam
