- Dan S.| 1 replyI just got called in Peterborough, answered, and it was a U of Waterloo survey being conducted by a student as part of a study on gambling, mainly online gambling. Since the number was legitimate, and it displayed as U of Waterloo, I participated for 15-20 minutes. Questions were not to reveal detailed personal information. They also offered a $10 online gift certificate for Amazon by participating and giving an email address.

NEVER TRUSTING AGAIN - UWaterlooLike AZ said this is the main number of the University of Waterloo, there are many reasons why someone would be calling you from here. One is if you or your child is an alumni they may ask you for money, another is they are conducting an academic survey.
They will never call you 5 times a day unless you have somehow indicated to them that you would like to be called at a specific time but then you didn't pick up. Otherwise they will only call you at most twice a day, but that is rare.
If you don't want them to call you back why don't you try being an adult and picking up the phone, listening to what the person has to say, and then politely declining. If you don't pick up they assume you're not home and will keep trying. If you pick up and hang up, they will keep trying. If you pick up and scream at them they might keep trying. The only way to know for sure they will not keep trying is if you ask them politely.- Call type: Survey
- randintThey called me twice, one on May 16, one on June 6:
May 16, Professor Alfred Menezes: Congratulations, you have been admitted to the University of Waterloo ... you are a recipient of the $1000 merit scholarship ... your preferrence (major area of interest) is Combinatorics and Optimization...
June 6, someone unknown: Are you planning to live in residence? ... My response: No.- Caller: University of Waterloo
