I am in Tucson and also received a call from this number, he did identify himself as an attorney.  Thank you for posting your experience.

This is Paul Guglielmo.. This guys is a complete slimeball. He buys old debts, debts that have been charged off by other companies, and attempts to collect them. He also tacks on TONS of fees to the original debt that he bought for pennies on the dollar. Truly the bottom of the bottom feeders.

I got a call from this number. It was a girl who stated she was from blah blah attorney's office (I didn't catch the name) asking if I was such and such. I ask her what is this in regards to? and she states that she ha s a file on her desk.  She then asks me to verify the last 4 digits of my SS#. I ask her "what is this about?" (and I do NOT give her the last 4 of my SS#) To which she replies that she must first verify if she is talking to the right person first. So I said, well then you can contact me by mail.

I was curious but not curious enough to give out personal info over the phone (duh!) and I was thinking WHY would an attorney be calling me? I do have alot of debt, but I'm not behind and there is NO reason a debt collector should be calling me.

Yes, it is Pau, Gugli whatever. I would not ignore after the garnishment that just hit my paycheck. It was from this law office, collecting on behalf of a collection agency (ARS). The are taking 25% of my paychecks, and I just got a letter from them for another chargoff. I guess i cant ignore them. In TX, it was illegal for this to happen. Another reason to leave AZ.....

All you have to do is close out your checking out or at least just keep $25 in it and re-open another one.  This way, they can't take out what is not in there.  This happened to my husband a few years ago and when we closed out the account, that was it....they couldn't take anything or get anything more.

This number called but they don't leave a message. Straight to voicemail but they won't leave a message.

Closing out your bank account(s) will only keep them from getting $$$ from there.  IF you have a job, they probably WILL get a court injunction to garnish your wages.  However, if your income is like mine, Social Security Disability, they can't touch it!  Good Luck.

don't know who this is, probably some con artist.  no message, of course.  Don't know any legitimate business that calls then doesn't leave a message.

Who is his attorney who sounds like the " proverbial " ambulance chaser.  First of all, I never give out personal information, despite claiming to be an attorney. It is interesting that as soon as I got a landline, to help with cable and internet expenses, the cockroaches come out.

Serious debt collectors.  They associate with and work for Portfolio Associates and they do go to court.  They will pursue whatever remedies they can.  If they call you,  demand a debt validation letter be sent to you by US Mail.  E-mail no good.  Don't ignore any legal summons you get .  And yes, this guy Paul D. Guglielmo is an attorney in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona.  He and his associates do go to court.  I suspect they work in volume and rely on people simply defaulting out.  He is only licensed to practice in four states, so if you are not located in that state, there's less chance that you'll be taken to court by this group.  Still, never ignore a legal summons.  Usually legal summons are delivered in hand by a process sever licensed to serve process in your state.

I got similar call with threatening tone like something very bad gonna happen to me. This guy should be reported to regulatory agency.

Credit Card debt is classified as UNSECURED (signature loan) so, if a CC company or someone who bought that debt gets to your paycheck or checking account.  Its your fault for not answering the summons to court.

If they gave you no summons, that would be illegal and grounds for appeal and the answer to you prayers since it is unsecured debt.

Missed a call from this number.  Called back and it's still GUGLIELMO & ASSOCIATES. They didn't have any information about me or my number and that they must have called the wrong number.

Just an FYI,
If anyone is on SS or has a retirement fund,  keep this in mind. Social Security can't be garnished and Retirement funds are generally protected from creditors. ( Execption is for IRS or other federal, State agencies.)

These attorneys have no case if plaintiff is a collection agency. Remember, did you sign any agreement or contract with the collection agency? NO you didn’t. When the original creditors sold your debt to the collection agency they gave up the right to pursue for that debt. Collection agencies are suing hoping people will give up their rights. Study everything you can find about fighting a collection agency on a debt they purchased.
