Are you getting telephone calls from people who don't answer?

I think I might have some (or may be all) of the answer! Most of these people (or companies) do not want to talk to you, because all they are doing is GATHERING information, like your phone number and first and last name.

Here are some ideas you might be able to stop this nonsense:

1) When you answer, only say HELLO (not your name)
2) Change your voice mail message to: HELLO THIS IS (followed by your phone number) Not your name!

Because remember, when you call back the number which called you. Some of them have a message what says something like: To opt out, please

push 1 and leave us your name and number.

If you do that, they have accomplished their task. All they are after is your name and number, which information they sell on lists to

people who might want to sell you (FOR EXAMPLE) insurance, a work from home program, MLM, etc.

Do you see what I mean?

Here's another idea: Do a test and call your own telephone number from another phone to find out what information your voice mail message contains. Does the message have your first and/or your last name?

That's exactly what these people are collecting. You might want to change the voice mail message to saying: Hello, you have reached 408-000-0000, please leave your name and number and I will call you back.

Check and see if I am right!

That's done very easily: GOOGLE the phone number, which is calling you and you will get quite a bit of information, but most likely no name or company name.

WHY?
It's a telemarketer calling you from one or more different phone numbers. If it was a legitimate call, you would in most cases, get some reliable information when you google that phone number. (And, of course, they would talk to you when you answer your phone to begin with)

You can also check and examine the URL (Uniformed Residence Locator) or domain name when you are looking at the GOOGLE results. Usually shown in green. So here's a word for the wise: When you are writing a complaint, show any and all numbers which are calling you.

Do NOT show your telephone number and/or name, because they (the telemarketers) can still put your info on another list.

When you google the number, you can also type a message and complain about the situation. If there is anybody else with additional ideas, please let us know.

One more thought: When you GOOGLE the phone number, which is calling you, you get a list of answers. And on some you can leave your message of complaint YEAH RIGHT! Did you think about this? Some of these websites behind this, might be the same telemarketers!
