Someone named Stephanie who said she was from the AL State Legal Services called regarding a Citation and Summons to appear in Court and that I needed to be at my home between 3:00 - 5:00 tomorrow to accept the summons (on which I have no idea what this is for).  She indicated that if I need to know what this Citation and Summons was for that I need to call the 561-571-4394 number and to settle before it is issued.  Also, said they would contact my Human Resources Director at my office if I am not at home to accept this summons and would appear at my office.  I believe this is some type of scam.

It is a SCAM since a REAL process server will not call and warn you.  Let your employer know about the call - do not trust callers like this.

Someone called me from this number yesterday by the name of Nancy or Nathalie. Said i had an unpaid hospital bill  and they were going to sue me if i did not settle this matter right away. I responded and told them that bill was paid several months ago and that their information was not updated. I called my lawyer the next day (today) to have him contact them which he did. A guy picked up today saying "Vaughn Associates" smh and they said it was 2 separate invoices that was left unpaid and only 1 had been paid. That raised a red flag right there hospitals don't send out different invoices for anything. He couldn't provide any of the invoices that was so-called left unpaid to me via phone, email or even fax. He then proceeded to tell us he is not a collection agency and he was  a firm. If you are not a collection agency and you are "JUST A FIRM" why are you attempting to collect money from us. When my lawyer asked for the address to his firm he hung the phone up.

Of course they did, they don't want law enforcement to find them.  If they are trying to collect money, then they are a debt collection agency.

MY point EXACTLY !!!!!!!!!! These people need to stop. But how do dtdhey get your information? That is the biggest question.

Getting information is easy and pretty much free.  After all, everything about you is posted on the internet, including pictures of your house (thanks a lot Google).  They scan social media for your accounts.  They really don't need much, just enough to make you think they are legit.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
