- SCAMMERWARNING - SCAMMER ALERT - WARNING !
This is a scammer, sending scam emails and texts from Craigslist ads.
You have been warned. SCAMMER- Caller: SCAMMER
- JHe contacted me about a craigslist ad saying he would send a check with extra money for movers to deliver. He responded until I said I want paymemt via money order. He ignored that request. (Twice) He contacted me the next day from a different number (209 813 8799) and said he sent extra money for the movers once I cashed the check. Sounds fishy!
- m| 1 replyAsk for AD on furniture and wanted to send me money and did. When I got his check it was 1600 over to cover the expense for "movers"- I asked to speak to him but he will not talk- just text. I asked him why not send two checks? No answer- I told him I can either rip the check or send it back to him... no answer....

You may have been exposed to scam #1, as described here:

Remember to return here, to 800notes.com, after you look at any of the information at that site, either to post more information, or to let us know you avoided the scam, or to read any further information about that number that others may post. - AThe same thing happened to me about a ring I was selling. The whole thing sounded fishy especially since his first phone number contact(857-219-9094) came from Boston and his second Iowa. However, he said he was from Monterrey and was working in Boston. That seemed somewhat logical. The only problem was I didn't understand how they could trust someone without seeing a ring. What did everyone do with the check? I haven't received it but if I do, should I send it back..rip it up? Or cash it and send him the ring?

- W| 4 repliesI'm glad I googled this number! I was texted from this number and the 857 one, said he was sending a check to cover the cost of the Bass Im selling. Stated that it's sold and wanted me to pull the item, my response was I would pull the item once payment was confirmed. I responded with I would prefer a money order, he apologized and said it had already been mailed, I'm currently waiting on this "check" at which time, according to another web site, I'm to send to a local FBI location, since it helps to stop these scammers. If you cash the check, you will be responceble for it when it doesn't clear. Pass this on, some people are desperate to sell and this guy or group is preying on them. I make it a habit of telling a person that i would rather meet them ( public place ), and let them look at what I'm selling before they purchase, or tell them I sell locally right off the bat.

- A replies to W| 3 repliesHow did you find out to send it to an FBI office? I went to their website and am in the process of filing an e-scam complaint.
- BigA replies to A| 2 repliesIf you receive a bogus check in the mail, the proper thing would be to take it and the envelope it came in to your local Post Office and have them forward it to the Postal Inspectors. They would be the ones that would investigate it and have the jurisdiction over it. If an e mail was involved, then i would forward that to the IC3 website.
- A replies to BigA| 1 replyWe only communicated over text.
- BigA replies to AThe post you replied to indicated that a check was allegedly mailed. Since your first post did not mention anything about a text and you said "send it to the FBI" it left me under the impression that you had received a check in the mail and were asking which authorities to send it to.
- JamieBeware. This is a classic craigslist text scammer. Block this number and ignore.
