The online banking I use requires the phone number to be validated. Which is what I want, the number calling me to give me to verification code is 580-448-9162. In this case it is a number I accept and could then get into my bank account. This doesn't mean spammers aren't using it for their means.

It is an Authentication code, but you should only be getting it if you requested it to reset your password.
