Got this call on my cell today. I don't answer unknowns, and even though this is actually my area code, the number is not one i recognize. I am plagued by unknown numbers all day long. I AM on the Do Not Call list, and have reported many callers to the FCC, but get so many calls from people just fishing to sell me stuff. Anything from medical devices to car insurance. What do we do to prevent this? Anyone have any ideas?

I got a call as well. I don't answer unknown calls and they left no voicemail so I guess we'll never know.

Caller stated she was from Anytime Fitness, calling local cell phone numbers to offer a free visit with a personal trainer.  I informed caller I am on the Do Not Call list.  She responded that, if I was on their do not call list, she would not have called.  I specified I am on the National Do Not Call list, and inquired if they had checked it.  She informed me she had not, and promptly hung up.
Reverse lookup of the phone number did not match Anytime Fitness locations in the local area.  Specifically, multiple reverse lookup websites indicated the phone number belongs to a cell phone on Verizon's network.
