This number called 12 times between February 17 and today.  All calls marked as spam and filtered out by provider.  Not once did they choose to leave voicemail.   Today I am fully blocking.

Great news, everyone will be thrilled you finally decided to block the number.
Missed calls could be from anyone.
Scammers, telemarketers, debt collectors, pranksters, surveys, notifications, alerts, wrong number, etc. Some use neighbor spoofing so it appears that an incoming call is coming from a local number, or spoof a number from a company or a government agency that you may already know and trust. If you answer, you can find out who it is or what they want. Just be aware some may use scam scripts to try to steal your money or valuable personal information, which can be used in fraudulent activity.

Why would I even want to answer or want to know what a scammer is up to?  This call is not from anyone. When a provider marks call as spam, it means they have used STIR/SHAKEN to verify that the called id provided does not match the actual origin of the call.  Someone who is faking their number to conceal their true identity is not someone I want to talk to.  Obviously there is nothing in your response that I don't already know or most people don't already know, but thanks for putting your arrogant response out there.

Why would you think anyone would want to know that you don't know who it was or what it was about? You do know people look up numbers to find out who called, right? You do understand what the purpose of this website is for, right?

It is because people report it is, even though they  don't know if it was or not.
People just report every missed call as spam or scam because the service providers don't have a report button for a missed call. There is a reason why they don't.

Wow, do you know what the purpose of this site is?   I feel like you might be lost.    Obviously people would want to know that the number is not anyone I know or do business with, therefore it serves to report a potential source of scam.  As does the sheer number of calls and the fact that zero messages were left.  A legit caller tends to leave a message after one or two calls.

Every number is a potential for spam/scam and you probably don't know that there are so many reasons for no messages or calling repeatedly. The purpose of this web site is to help figure out who called, not inform others you don't really have a clue who called.

I have and I'll go one further, go read about how the FCC is cracking down on telecoms who don't obey the  STIR/SHAKEN mitigation Rules.

Perhaps we will disagree.   Yes, literal interpretation of home page may suggest that users want to know who called, but it also suggests users want to know about all kinds of annoying calls. I think the users are like me and just want to know what numbers are safe to block, i.e. a source of annoyance and not a number that of a legit phone subscriber who abides by DO NOT CALL regs.

I post here when I DO HAVE A CLUE that the person calling is not legit in their intent or has no authorization from me to be calling.  I don't need a person's intent spelled out by conversation or vm.    A preponderance of negative indicators suffices for me to a conclude a caller is up to mischief.   Reports of similar experiences from others, ties to questionable websites, repeat calls with hang-up, calls from distant area codes, how the provider labels the call, and other details are all in play.  I have posted here as "scam", or as "unwanted" with lesser indications, to help others avoid such caller ids.  It takes multiple factors and sometimes multiple calls.  That burden has been reached regarding this number.  I cannot speak to what others may or may not consider before posting.

By the way. you are right, I can think of no reason for anyone to call repeatedly without leaving a message, provided they know whom they are calling.  Thus, those calls raise a flag.  I also agree it would be interesting to learn how our government will be enforcing the regs, but not sure how that contributes to our purpose here.

Depends on the type of call.

Yet your post doesn't tell us that and blocking is pretty much useless anyway since they can spoof other numbers to get around it.

How do you know that the caller must use the DNC list to scrub their call list?  You probably don't even know what types of calls the two enabling laws that established the list cover do you?  I can say that because it seems that you failed to read the homepage here and most likely failed to read the information supplied by the FCC/FTC on the DNC list sign up page.

Your questions don't really deserve answers.   Hard to believe that it is worth my time to answer to anyone who thinks they know what I know.  That is just ridiculous.    Q1) By definition, it makes it an unwanted call. Q2) That was my point for a legit caller.  Q3) My post is a recommendation to block.  Duh to spoofing numbers being limitless.   Q4) Aside from you being omniscient, I already indicated that I read the home page and you also have no way of knowing that I read and understand the DNC sign up information.

So enough about me.  Why are you using this site?   Do you have anything to report about this phone number?  Do you actually post reports?  If one was to perform database queries to count your activity, which do you think would be greater: A) The number of reports you filed or B) The number of times you comment on the reports others have made?

Interesting how you keep coming back to a thread where you gave no useful information. Why is that?

The line you indicated as Q2 wasn't a question it was a statement.  Questions end in a "?" not a "."  I report a lot of calls here.  Just reported one the other day.  I don't always report them using my screen name for certain security reasons.  I am sure that if the search went back to 2013 you would find lots and lots of my posts reporting calls.  Most of the reports you put up fit your screen name.

Just something to think about......and doesn't require a response.

    Quote:
Lady decides to get a more affordable phone service and calls her friend to give her the new number, but the call drops before anyone could answer. She tries several more times with the same result.
Next she calls a family member and encounters the same call drop problem. After getting the issue fixed with her provider, she now has her number blocked by a few people she tried calling, only to find out they reported her number as spam.

So this is just one possible scenario of why you might get repeating calls with no message and I am sure there are others. Speculating about a caller isn't really helpful in figuring out who called or why. Sure many might just be some telemarketer or scammer, but why label it if you don't really know?

It says this on the Homepage:
"....by sharing pieces of information each of us has we are putting together a free and public phone number directory with information no other service can provide."

Why repeat what someone else said from somewhere else if they don't know who called either?
