I called it back and it was an escort service.

Since I can't seem to get anywhere going through their automated "place me on your do not call list", I called their phone service provider to file a complaint against their customer.  Contact information below:

I got a call from this number and it was a guy named Larry who was looking for some weed. Really weird.

Asked to press 2 for more info or press 9 for no call list. I goofed and pressed 9.

Sure hope I did not get scammed !!!

It don't matter if your on the no call list. I found out Tele market and scammers are using the list to call you any ways to call you. Just don't anwser and call block the butts.

RECORDED MESSAGE STARTS OUT "THERE IS A HOME BREAK IN EVERY 15 SECONDS"  AT THIS POINT I HUNG UP.  I AM ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST

said they were the police and wanted to post a notice in my yard for
protection because there had been break-ins.

Listed as LOCALTEL so did not pick up.  Did not leave voice mail.  I am on do not call list?  I have gotten three of these calls in the last two days!

"GOOGLE, YES GOOGLE..." Was the first statement I heard when answering the phone.  I (only me) had been chosen to represent my city (the ENTIRE city of Washington, DC), in this companies premier advertising and web listing.  Was told I had to "act fast" or my competitors would snap up this opportunity!

After about 15 more seconds of drivel, I was prompted to press one to be included in the online directory of press two to "pass the offer to my competition down the street".

I (of course) pressed one and was connected to a live operator who congratulated me on my decision.  I asked her what company this was, no answer was provided.  I asked her what she was congratulating me for?  For choosing to download google was the response.  Huh? Download google, what on earth are you talking about? I asked.  "Uhhh you want to increase your business right?"  Not necessarily, now how can I help you?

For some reason, she hung-up   ;-)

We don't have a name CID, but the voicemail said this was an important message from Google... saying they had an advertising opp that 'only one company in each city is offered'...
I pressed one to speak to a sales rep and asked him to remove the two numbers associated with my work phone off of his list.  He seemed to comply, repeating the numbers back to me after I read them.  

I then asked him if he worked for Google and he hung up on me.  I really doubt Google would use this type of service... and I'm even more confident it's yet another scammer.  What a shame...

When I call back, I get a recorded message immediately saying that if I don't want to receive anymore special offers, I can press one and be removed from their list...

I seldom get second calls from these messages... still, it's disruptive to my work.

I get one or two of these calls a day.  I am on the do not call list.    603-214-3318
