No actually just one law, the FDCPA which supersedes state laws unless they are more stringent.  That only happens in a couple of states, and their laws do not increase the fines.  But hey, if you know so much, prove me wrong.  Cite me the instances you are referring to.  The exact laws, not barroom chatter from your buddies.

I'd like to see a citation to that state's law then. The federal law only provides a $1000 award per suit not per violation.  It sure would be nice if it was the other way though. These criminal operations would be wiped out after just a few courtroom losses.

Called my cell phone which is on the do not call list just like my home phone, rang twice so was a missed call. I will not call any number that does that.

I was on my phone one day and a random phone number texted me. I don't know who it is, but cause of recent experiences I didn't want to tale any chances.

I have had people call my husband and I saying they are going to serve us with papers and never do.  We ask for something in writing and never receive it.  Biggest problem is they contact our places we work and family members.  I don't know how to get them to stop?  Any ideas?  We live in Oklahoma.

Send them a cease and desist letter, return reciept requested so you have proof they recieved it.  THEN after a couple weeks for them to digest the message, if they call after that, you can fine them up to $1,000 per call !!!    It has worked for me on many minor debts and companies I stiff for small amounts, typically under $2,000 they won't follow up.

Some from this number called me a few months ago, and they called again today. I didn't answer, but I looked up this number and I've seen comments that say this number is from some type of scam company? So now I'm concerned, especially on how these people got my number.

This number called me about a legitimate dept that I owed but was unaware of. They said they're company is called Credit Collection Services.
