Called me at work to say my daughter's loan payment was late even though I made the payment for her on time and have the cancelled check to prove it.  Yeah, I know, I shouldn't have co-signed but I did so one way or another the payments get made.  Do I have any rights at all here?  Can they really call me and lie about a payment being late when it's not?

I did not choose them.  They bought one of my loans and have been harassing me ever since they bought it from the other company.  They even sent my loan into collections after the second month they bought it.  At the time the loan was only 2 years old and I was still in school.  Wells Fargo is nothing but crooks.  I've been fighting since to get the collections off my record that those sob put on there for no reason.  Some of these other people might have been stupid to go with them but others like me might have not had a choice.

I don't have business with Wells Fargo, nor do I have any outstanding loans of any kind, so I'm not sure why they keep calling.

Wells Fargo has been nothing but respectful with me when I am late in paying my student loan. Yes, they contact me multiple times a day if I am 10 days past due - this is their right, in my eyes. I have entered into a contract to pay back these funds. They contact me during business hours. When I make my payment, they ask me why I was late (and I am late probably 2-3 times a year) and if I'm honest with them, they're respectful about collecting the debt. Occasionally, I'm working a string of 16 hour shifts and I just miss the payment date and by then, I don't remember I missed it. It happens. Suck it up. Be an adult. Own your debt.

Perhaps you should 'mind your own business' if you have no issue with your debts and be an adult towards understanding not everyone is like you. Getting harassed over a debt doesn't mean they aren't "owning" their debts!

If this is Well Fargo Debt Collection then they're insane or psycho, because I do not, have not, and will not have anything to do with Wells Fargo, and therefore have no outstanding debt with them. Crazy! Second call in a week.

I called Wells Fargo NA, Corporate, to inform them I get 5-6, sometimes 7 calls a day (but they never leave a message, so I had to research and track them down (as even their local branches are not aware of this INTERNAL Number), from the Wells Fargo Debt Collection department.

I informed them I DO NOT and HAVE NOT had ANY outstanding delinquent debt with anyone, and do not have ANY WELLS FARGO Accounts. And that I have not been a WF Customer for over 25 years, and had no debt then, but closed my account after three separate Deposit Fiascos.

They  transferred me  three times, and after over an hour of being on hold while they "Researched", they finally determined they'd been mistaken in associating my phone number (wrongly) with someone else's name and outstanding debt (evidently Student Loans).

I gave them an ear full!  AND TOLD THEM, "I do not, and have not had any accounts, nor any outstanding debt with Wells Fargo; and I never have had ANY debt with you or anyone else! Stop calling me or I will not only sue you, but use my national media connections, and I will then make you my Anti-Harassment Cause Celeb".

They assured me the calls would stop. I hung up, only to have that same department and number (605-545-4444) almost instantly call me again, this time asking for someone I never heard of (Obviously the debter they thought they were previously harrassing). I reiterated it all for her, ONE LAST TIME; adding "Obviously this, and this latest 1.4 Billion, SECOND FRAUD JUDGEMENT against Wells Fargo, shows just how dishonest, disjointed, and how screwed up Wells Fargo has become. Lose my number or it is ME and my attorney who will be harassing YOU, and trust me, you won't like tbe NATIONAL media attention either. Is there any part of that you don't understand? No! Good! Have a nice day!"

I dare them to test me: For myself, and all of you who have been harrassed (outstanding Debt or not, and no one deserves to be treated this way) by this Pathetic excuse for a "bank", but if they call me just one more time I WILL SUE THEM: CLASS ACTION! So I'll keep you posted if that happens; so you can all join in!

BTW, again,  debt or no debt, no one deserves to be treated this way! Contact your State Attorney General (as I am going to do regardless) and forward all these complaints and your own story!

    Peace!

someone in the above comments mentioned it was WellsFargo, this is not accurate. This is a scammer pretending to be a rep from Wells trying to collect money. if you dont answer they will leave a voicemail stating your name and prompting you to press 1.

Sorry, but they cannot, regardless of whether it is secured or not.  Social Security cannot be legally garnished with the exception of taxes, student loans, and certain court ordered payments such as child support.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
