- BJ| 1 replyShown as unknown on caller ID
Said he was from Verity Electric(Energy?) Started to ask if I received a notice in my last electric bill about a 10% reduction in electric costs. Sounded like a scam type call - Ann NoidThanks. Glad I didn't answer. They didn't leave a message.
- Lancaster17603| 9 repliesDO NOT give them any info as this is a phishing scam, plain and simple. The caller identifies him/herself as a representative of Verity Energy USA, and then asks if you noticed the stuffer in your last PPL bill offering a KWH/hr rate reduction. They then try to get your account info. I responded that I was at work and could not review my bill at that time, and asked that they call back. I Googled them and no such company exists. If they DO exist, they are certainly not affiliated with PPL. When trying to call them back, you get a canned recording every time about reaching the "Department of Energy Procurement." There is no mention of Verity or PPL in the message, believe it or not. (They must use several company names for this scam.) You are then prompted to enter an extension. All entries lead to your call being cut off immediately UNLESS you decide to talk with sales. (ext. 3) A sales rep then comes on trying to pitch the same scam.

- Shades| 2 repliesThe caller ID showed "verde energy" which is a company in Texas but this number is Pennsylvania. I dialed the number from my secure phone (private) and the message was “Thank you for calling the department of energy procurement.” Did not mention the company name – this sounds phony to me. I will call my local electric company and ask if they know who they are since they mention the flyer in the electric bill.

- stan| 1 replypredictive dialer hang-up, didn't leave message. From the notes above, appears to be a re-biller like MX Energy who is trying to capitalize on the deregulation of the natural gas industry in Pennsylvania. If they're legit, they can save approx 10% off the PPL bill by reassigning the billing to their company. I went with MX, so far they seem to have the best de-reg rate.
- stan replies to stanoops, it's the electrical industry, not the nat gas. Got confused for a moment with all the Marcellus shale action going on around us.
- Marianne| 3 repliesKeep getting calls from this number. They say hello on my answering maching & nothing else. I hope I will be home the next time they call so I can ask them to remove my number!!!
- Caller: unknown
- SueThis is an electric provider that says they can save PP&L customers in Pennsylvania money on their electric bill. I'm not sure if they are on the level or not. They gave me www.lowcostpower, which is registered to Verde Energy.

- Lititz17543| 3 repliesReceived a call from a man identifying himself as a representative of Verty Energy. He asked if he could speak with the individual that pays the electric bill in the household. I responded that that person was me. He asked me if I had received the notice in my last bill offering a KWH/hr rate reduction which could save me money. I immediately ended the call. I called the number back two times and a recorded message played...you have reached the Department of Energy Procurement. It further prompted me to press 1, 2 or 3 for difference departments. I Googled the phone number to find out that this is a scam and no such company exists.

- GEORGE REICHART| 7 repliesCALLER KEEPS ON CALLING ME AND WON'T LEAVE A MESSAGE ON MY MACHINE. I HAVE GREAT DIFFICULTY GETTING TO THE PHONE AS I HAVE ONCE AGAIN JUST RETURNED FROM BEING IN THE HOSPITAL FOR A LIFE THREATENING INFECTION IN MY BLOOD. THIS CALLER IS REALLY GETTING MY UPSET AS IT IS VERY HARD AND STRENUOUS FOR ME TO TRY TO GET TO THE PHONE IN TIME TO TRY TO TALK TO SOMEONE IN PERSON---if they are even there....PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME AS I JUST CAN'T KEEP DOING THIS OVER AND OVER EXCH DAY. OTHER REPORTS SAY TRHAT THE CALL IS FROM "Verity Energy USA" AND I CAN'T VERIFY THAT BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD CALLER ID--I spend the $0.75 to see who just called my home. I ONLY DO THIS WHEN I AM REALLY IN PAIN AND HAVE TO TRY TO GET CLEAR ACROSS MY HOME TO THE ANSWERING MACHINE......
- Caller: Verity Energy USA ?????
- Call type: Telemarketer
- kris| 4 repliesMy husband got the call yesterday. Same MO as everyone describes. Unfortunately, he didn't think it was a scam and gave out our acct info. Only thing that may save us is that we are with Met Ed, not PPL. Have already called them, but they say they can't do anything until the paperwork comes to them. I'm a little annoyed with Met Ed at their lax attitude but it's our own fault. Now hubby knows not to give out ANY info. Have called attorney general to file complaint.

- anotherLititz| 3 repliesThey've called 3 diff times today...glad I checked this out before answering. I've had so many possible scams lately, I simply don't answer the phone anymore, ever. Damned shame. I suppose I should
just cancel my phone service altogether. I've gotten several offers to switch to other electric suppliers...all 3 legit companies, all 3 came thru the mail.- Caller: unknown
- Emmaus| 3 replies610-455-2061 has called me before (I let the machine get it) and never left a message.
Today I listened to my messages and got:
"Hello, is anyone there? .. Hello, I said HELLO IS ANYONE THERE?, HELLO, HELLO..." that was the message.
Saw it was from Verde Energy from the caller ID. The next time I answer the phone, let them know I'm on the "Do-Not-Call list" (https://www.donotcall.gov/) and that I will report them if they call again.
These telemarketing guys can rack up some serious fines if they don't abide by the "list".- Caller: Verde Energy
- Emmaus replies to GEORGE REICHARTPlease put yourself on the national registry Do Not Call List https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx.
It works.
Once you are on the registry according to the website:
"The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. Most telemarketers should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. If they do, you can file a complaint at this Website. You can register your home or mobile phone for free."
I'm on it and Verizon wireless decided to telemarket to my number. Everyday for a week they'd call with the auto dialer. I filed a complaint using the complaint page:
https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2
I got sent a paper copy of the complaint and Verizon got hit with a fine. A manager called to apologize and I haven't had any telemarketers call again - until Verde Energy....
The next time they call I'll tell them I'm on the do-not-call list and if they call again they get reported.
Good luck Sir - SarahI have signed up with Verde Energy and have seen a great savings on my electric bill. I have even referred my family members and got $25 referral for each one. This company is not a scam by any means. They just save you money on the supply portion of your electric bill.
