Tax Scam -Officer Ryan Schmidt  of the CRA called to say I had a fraudulent tax filing and had to pay up immediately.

"Officer Ryan Schmidt or Smith" demanding payment of monies owing from fraudulent tax filing and I must call them back immediately.....
Caller's ID came up on phone as  V3071540210000

same guy, same number, odd 'coincidence' that he called shortly after we applied to get our taxes done. Probable leak of information at HR Block?

Officer Ryan did give me a call.  Machine picked up.  Though the number was strange since most CRA would do the long winded 1-800 with an extension perhaps quoting some kind of id to identify you.  Message did not state who that tax fraud was for so I decided to search the number and came to this site.  It would be strange for me to have done fraud on my taxes when I have not even done them.

Got the same one today. He left two identical messages on my answering machine but never says who it's for. Knew it was a scam so didn't call back.

Mr. Schmidt called Mar.7th. Left a message saying me or my lawyer need to call right away. Called CRS. They said whenever you get a call like this to Google the number. Not a very bright person, doesn't ever change his name. Sounded more like a Ravinder Singh to me.

I just had the same call from a officer Ryan smith. He sounded really ticked in the phone message. I believe the CRA would send written notification, what a scam!

I got a call just now. It was a recording and the guy had a strong foreign accent... tipped me off right away. Very upsetting though! I wish they could track these crooks down and arrest them.

Yup - he's obviously been busy this morning!  I am in BC... interestingly, last week I was awoken just before 6:00 am by a phone call from this same number - I lept out of bed, thinking it would be news of a family member who is in hospital & fearing the worst (who else calls in the 5:00's?!?); the message machine clicked in before I could get to it, and I heard what sounded like a recording so I picked up & hung up right away so it wouldn't wake my children.  Called back later and left a scathing message about checking time zones before calling.  Obviously didn't deter this guy.

forgot to start with: I got the same call: "Officer Ryan Smith from CRA about tax fraud" - my or my lawyer to call immediately.

I just got the same call, saying my dad has a tax fraud. I answered the phone but it seems to be a machine, no response to my words.

Office Ryan Smith left me a message. I kinda feel like calling him back, collect of course, and posing as my lawyer. Since he did not leave a name....  This fraud has been happening for a couple of years. CRA would not phone you. They send all correspondence by mail. I will be reporting the number on the DNC registry, blocking it on the phone and making an online police report.

Yes CRA will call you but from collectons not audit they send letters first.  this is a scam
