"Susan" called from Reliant a division of Bell Canada to let us know that we will be getting a 30% reduction in our long distant calls from tomorrow on.  She asked personal questions, date of birth, etc.  Patched me through to James, her supervisor, and he asked personal questions as well.  He said that his supervisor was going to call me back with the details for the contract.  East Indian accent.  Could hear a call centre in the background.

Called saying they were from Bell, asked to speak to the authorized person and said our services would be discounted by 30%. Tons of background noise. When I said this seemed odd to me, she said she would e-mail and then hung up. Pain in the you know what. So much for having an unlisted phone number.

    Haha!
Said he was with Telus and offered a discount. Knew something wasn't right from the start. Was very rude when I wouldn't confirm information he should have had if he was really with Telus. Finally told me I had wasted his time and to get off the phone. LOL! Telus confirmed they weren't calling anyone with a discount, confirmed our account hadn't been tampered with, and then offered me a much better discount. Best spam call ever!!

Spoofing a local-to-me (same area code) number ... call comes in with the long distance ring.

Again they call saying they are calling from Bell and asking for the person in charge of the Bell telephone bill. I replied "we don't use Bell" and he was at least polite and said he was "really sorry ma'am" and hung up without an argument.

it was a scam, unknown number but same deal, offered 30% discount on my phone bill for 1 year, had to answer yes to a lot of the same questions, started asking personal questions, i didn't give anything they seem to already have, kept switching to managers for verification. I started speaking to someone with an american accent and thats when I decided to just say "no, I do not accept"  and they disconnected, 20 seconds later the same guy who originally gave me the speal "Patrick Morris ID#7075" with an indian accent called and tried to get me to agree. At this point I decided to Google "Bell Reliant" while speaking to them and found some articles about this as a scam so i told them what I had found on line and they hung up.

This indian guy called and said same things like reliant a division from bell canada blah blah...
While i was talking on the phone i searched the number and found out it was a scam. So i told this guy i just searched your number and everyone on the web says this is a scam.
Then he stopped talking and after few seconds he just hung up.

no number "private caller"  told me I was a respected customer and qualify for 30% discount for 12 months.  They did not have our current address started to send me to other managers...I kept asking why Bell would give me this discount...finally they disconnected us.

I want to advise you that I had a call from Reliant Communications and they said they were from Bell Canada and offered me a 30% reduction in my business phone plan for a year. All I had to do was answer there recorded questions with a Yes or No. It seemed strange to me but I figured I would go along as long as they didn't ask for any financial information. I have since read online that it is a scam and they record over the questions they ask and change it to sound like you  agree to change phone providers. They put you through to a third party who records the answers and then he calls back to verify that it is the right number. The first persons call came in as unknown however the third party number was 855-875-0550 which is Reliant Communications. I just called and spoke to someone at Reliant and she had my information and asked if I did not want to switch companies. When I said I was never asked about switching she said they would have recorded that conversation but she was going to speak with the sales department when I explained what happened. I am sure it happens all the time with that company.

Received call telling me that we had received 30% discount off our Bell bill for 12 months. Got suspicious when the caller asked for my date of birth looked up the name Reliant and then asked caller if the phone call was a scam? He hung up immediately.

Received a call today at work from a guy named Alex with a robotic Indian Accent. I knew it was a scam from then on, very unlikely to find an Indian Robot named Alex. He said my company was receiving 30% for their customer appreciation month because we’re in good standing but then he said it was for 12 months. He repeated our address and my manager’s name which can all be found on google. Also stated that we have an existing plan with Reliant then went on to patch me through some supervisor. I could hear how busy it was in the background. The supervisor didn’t have an accent though at that point I hung up. My company works with Bell so I knew this call was bogus. Nice try though! Guess this is what I gotta live with, with our information being leaked every other week.

today had the same call from James at Reliant a division of Bell Canada with same discount, same questions, how many lines, etc., with supervisor David and Evelyn with details of the contract which would be e-mailed and without a signature nothing would take place. However, No e-mail arrived as of yet and could hear call center in background as well. Confirmed with Bell Canada Reliant is not a division of Bell Canada.  Bell provided a number 1-855-875-0550 to call which i called immediately.  They had all the info above but no account was established as yet for only a couple of hours had passed.  She (Jacquelyn )had issued a cancellation of the phone order and provided a confirmation number of being cancelled.

Caller named Alex with East Indian accent and call centre noise in the background offered a 30% discount on our Telus business phone plan for 12 months. He did not know anything other than the most basic information for our account. He tried to tell me that our business phone plan name was "Reliant" and that they were not affiliated with any other long distance providers in my province. His manager had a North American accent and she didn't know any of our business' information either. Only at the end did he ask me to confirm that I am authorized to make changes to the services on the account. This was after assuring me that no changes would be made until an authorized person read and signed some forms and sent them back. CRTC requirement.
Even though I was 90% sure this was a scam from the start, I have had customer service from 2 different major phone providers here (Vancouver, BC) sound very similar when they called. What made me 100% sure was when this guy became angry/frustrated when I called him out on one of his trick questions.
Call them out as soon as it seems like a scam. Legit customer support from your provider should not become aggressive if you ask questions about them.

I received a very similar call from "Daniel" offering 30% discount from Bell. He was very insistent that I write information down, would pass me to his supervisor, etc. The whole thing seemed fishy so I hung up ...and he called me back! Apparently I wasn't co-operating the way he wanted because after I told him I was busy, for him to email any information he got angry, told me to "F@#K off them...and hung up!

Just had this same experience. Got a call from "Kevin from Bell" saying my business was eligible for a 30% loyalty discount for 1 year, asked me questions verifying who I was, etc. Wasn't particularly suspicious till he said their company was actually called "Reliant" which "is a division of Bell" and that I'd be getting a second call in which I was to "Ask no questions and make no comments. Please only respond with a clear "Yes"."* It was during this second call that I googled "reliant bell canada" and realized what was happening. I called the number someone provided earlier in the thread (1-855-875-0550), said "I just got a call from you guys, claiming you're a division of Bell and I just realized that's not true" and asked them to remove my information and cancel anything with my business name. The girl on the other end didn't hesitate or ask for any reason why, which leads me to believe her sole job it to cancel the accounts of people who realize its a scam.

*Selling things over the phone is legal in Canada, as long as you receive 2 phone calls from 2 different people confirming the same information. The reason they only want a clear "yes" in the second phone call is to take the recording and alter the questions asked, so they can claim to have a recording of you saying "yes" to the creation of accounts/purchasing of services.

TL;DR This is a scam, hang up.
