A robo caller from CRA threatening about default taxes and that our house would go on lien.  Ridiculous - no names, and no amounts.  Don't be fooled by that garbage.

Received 2 calls from this number today. Message was left 2nd time - a really lame voice synth of text.

Message claims they represent CRA (Canada Revenue Agency), immediate action is needed to resolve outstanding debt, and I will contacted by their debt collector - failure to act will result in severe legal action.
This is most bogus and lame fraud scheme I have seen in a while.

I called 613-704-1362 back at 18:00 and a male answered as "CRA"
He pulled my name from name display and asked to confirm my name.
I asked if he minded if I record the phone call and after a pause, he said yes.
The said than he was with Canada Revenue Agency.
I asked what his agent ID was and he hung up.
Calls back to the number are now - ring no answer.

Posting here so people do not get sucked into their attempt to steal money from the unwary.

There was an echo during the call, so I suspect this is case of someone using a VOIP phone.

Received calls and answered - two guys threatened me with police and court and paying $90,000 if going to court. They were willing to perhaps offer settlement for the tax I owed $3865 (and did not receive any letters from CRA about it but they claimed the police tried to find me in January and February and I was not home and they thought I was hiding). Well, after they told me that I cannot pay in any other way but cash within 45 minutes, it became clear to me that this is a scam.

There is a widespread  CRA or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on  Canadian residents.

same thing here....some guy with an Indian accent threatening court action for taxes owed.  I've told them to stop calling and they call everyday.   I tried to report the number to rcmp.....or cra.....no luck....
How do we shut these creeps down if our own government doesn't  make it easy to report?

Just checked my phone messages and got the same CRA message. Tried calling and it only rang and hung up. Tried to 411 the number and came up with nothing. This was the first call that I'm aware of. Just happened on this site and what a blessing. Thanks...

I got the same message from these creeps. Ashamed to say they really freaked me out. The a__hole I spoke to kept referring to me as Mr. Wayne (i.e. my first name). Would love to track down these creeps. I reported it to the local police - what else can you do  . . .

Had a message from this # when I got home from work, sounded like they were talking about taking a ferrari!! Nope, don't own one. Mumble message, legal action, don't hear from my attorney, the usual crap. People with nothing better to do than scam as much from us people that actually work for a living, scums that they are.

Scammers threatening legal action from CRA recorded messages, police say they cannot act against it because it comes from another country though they use an ontario phone code. Do NOT Respond.

My parents received a call from this number and I called back and spoke to a James Ryan, agent number 999864 (I guess he picked up on the agent thing). I asked him where he was calling from and he said Ontario. I asked from where in Ontario and he said Tatawa (I think he was trying to say Ottawa) and then hung up. This is of course a hoax and you can get more info or report details to the Canadian Anti-fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501

Thank goodness I read all your comments.  I got this message on my answering machine, it was for my husband.
I called the number as I could not understand exactly what was being said, and an Indian sounding male voice said he needed to speak to my husband urgently.    We had not received any paperwork, and have no reason to get such a call.
I listened to the call a few more times, and they state that they will put a lien on our house, freeze our assets and a bill collector will be visiting us shortly.   I called our local police, and they confirmed it is a scam.

I've received 2 calls today from this number threatening to put a lien on my home and bank accounts as well as a Bill Collector to appear with court papers at my home, pertaining to unpaid taxes and tax fraud. This person is a Male East Indian,

an automated voice saying he represents the RCA and is calling about outstanding debt. Obvious spam.

Extremely poor quality automated voice claiming Ms.blah blah(unintelligible) was being sued by CRA contact urgently.
Called number, man of east indian or similar accent answered then got flustered when I questioned him and hung up.

Left message on v/m.  East Indian accent.  Said there were numerous claims against me and that I needed to call back immediately.  I tried to call back so that I could challenge him and have some fun explaining what an idiot he is but the call kept going to "technical difficulties in completing your call" message.  It might be because I am calling from work and not my home now but nonetheless I wont be offering up any information or offering to pay.

I had the same situation, only I had only half the message on my answering machine. Indian sounding robot voice, actually kinda funny. He threatened legal action for what I don't know since like I mentioned earlier I only had half a message. Thankfully I found this so I know to just ignore it!

A phone message was on my phone today. Could not understand the full message, sounded like it was cut off at the beginning. It was a male, East Indian accent, sounded angry telling us that we need to call or text back right away or they would proceed with legal action. Tried to call the number back thinking maybe he had a wrong number and just got a busy signal. Then I thought I would google the number and here I am....so glad I did. The nerve of these scammers, actually making us worry.

Same as above .  2 calls in 3 days. Found it unsettling even though we know it's a scam.

Just got a message exactly as described by Jane G.  I also tried calling back and got a busy tone.
