(613) 7xx? The Kingston area of Ontario. Only $10,000 Canadian Peso's? I wouldn't sweat it. What's that? 50 bucks U.S.? Ask them if they'll take Canadian Tire money. By the way. Your call? It's a scam. A well known one. If you really owed money you'd of gotten something in the mail. Not fax, text, email, or phone call. Remember: Debt is Civil, not Criminal. There is no debtors prison in Canada or the USA.

The CRA does not make this type of call, ever.

Scam...   tried to tell me that i owed the gov'n $10000 and am liable for all legal actions.

Like everyone else here is saying, CRA does not make calls like this.

Just ignore the call.

These guys called me again. I checked the number out and called them back. When he said it was the CRA I said, no your not so who are you ? He told me to go away and do not F$#@^& call back

They left a message on answering machine.  Another scam .

I knew that this was a scam immediately upon checking my phone messages upon arriving home.  The person, with a heavy Nigerian accent, did not even wait for my phone message to beep before he started to speak, so all I heard was something about the CRA calling and that I would be subpoenaed if I did not call back immediately.

For fun I called only to hear the exact same voice answer the call.  While I could hear a number of people in the same room, with what sounded like keystrokes in the background, he said that he was calling me from CRA and that I was about to be federally sued.  Interestingly, instead of telling me that we could settle the case by asking for money from me, he started by saying that he wanted to confirm if I have a federal lawyer available to me.

Upon asking him for his name and where he was calling me from, he hesitated a moment before calling himself 'Chris Ramsey' from CRA.  I told him that since I had never received any paperwork by mail I wanted to confirm if he would mind if I record the conversation for legal purposes.  This really sent him scrambling, since he had to ask me to repeat myself.  After stating that our phone call was being recorded, the line immediately went dead.  Upon calling back, an answering machine comes on to say that the call cannot go through at this time.

Although we are all a little nervous when we hear CRA being mentioned, this is definitely a scam like everyone has said.  So just remember if someone tries is with you, let them know that you are recording the call and that you plan on confirming the information that he/she states with CRA.  That seems to really do the trick.

An income tax client of mine called and said she had numerous messages from this number threatening jail for income tax fraud. I told her CRA would not leave such a message, and then I Googled the number and see that many other people have had this hassle. The number is constantly busy so far, but I intend to get through and tell them to stop!!

A message was left on my land line from this number and threatened legal action by CRA, the caller had a thick accent.

Too funny!! Apparently they are coming to arrest me!

Third time they've called and leave a threatening message. First time they said the "polica" would be contacted. I'm so tired of these scam calls.

Called last summer and left 2 msgs threatening legal action from CRA. Began calling again in last 2 days. Left several msgs threatening a lien on my property and saying a lawyer will contact me if i do not respond to them. They always leave this number and it shows up on call display. My phone keeps ALL my msgs forever and their numbers. May come in handy one day. A bunch of sad sacks preying on the over 50 crowd.
