It says World Financial on the caller ID.  I have no idea what they want, they didn't leave a message.

Doing a quick google search on them I come up with this from the BBB.

Please note that World Financial Network National Bank and World Financial Capital Bank based in Columbus, Ohio, are both wholly owned subsidiaries of Alliance Data which is headquartered in Dallas, TX. BBB maintains a separate report on Alliance Data headquartered in Dallas, TX.

We know from other numbers Alliance Data is a collection agency, so this is probably just another number they call from.

Too bad, we don't owe anyone anything.

This caller, Commenity, calls harassingly often over what appears to be nonexistent debt or those that have already been paid off. This can mean calls multiple times nearly every day; They may also try calling multiple numbers which could include [close] family members.
They hardly leave messages, yet when they do, it comes off as social engineering alongside some scare tactics to ensnare those contacted (somewhat threatening in tone) Such tactics can include bringing up 'legal' options and prompts to call them back at another number, which to discuss on the phone at all would be dubious and unrecommended.
Be careful with unknown callers; be wary of debt collectors since they may operate in shady/questionable ways; be sure to receive [mailed] legal documentation before addressing [impersonal] debts.

I have had this phone number for 34 years.  No Emily lives here, nor do I know an Emily.

Received two calls for my adult daughter from this number in Reynoldsburg Ohio essentially same message.
Callers name was "Josh Montoya" calling about a "sensitive matter" involving legal action.
    I did not return calls
I figured if this was a true collection agency they would have the proper contact number for her.

I have received 2 calls now from this number, and man and a woman. One just saying a first name and the other saying a first and last name, both of which are family. They keep threatening legal action unless they speak to the person or there lawyer.

Just received a call from this number, I answered and they asked if this was Veronica. My name is not Veronica, so I told him "Wrong number" and hung up the phone. After reading the posts on this site, I blocked the number so they can't call me back.

They called my phone number to ask about a supposed debt that my mother owes Wayfair (the furniture company). Immediately asked for financial information over the phone and argued with her when she denied. Not sure how they got my phone number but this seemed like a scam.

One of the tricks they use is to call your family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money.  They often call people that have never even been associated with you because they get erroneous information off of the internet.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

    Not Heather
This is the 2nd time a VM was left. My phone transcribes messages. The bank is Comenity. Comenity used to be Synchrony. I remember them because my answering machine would pronounce the caller ID as “Sin Crony” but mostly because they are a crappy company and a PItA. They are a store’s credit card company.
I’m not Heather. I don’t know a Heather Herr, I’m guessing at the name Herr because that was a teacher’s name from long ago. Most importantly I don’t owe any money to Pink. I don’t think their clothes would fit my thumb.
    The transcription:
” “This is a very urgent message for Heather [H]err this is Miss Murphy calling with Community [Comenity] Bank in regards to your business matter with [P]ink this have escalated to a critical level at this point it's absolutely necessary that I speak with you or your representing attorney immediately there of[has] been multiple attempts to contact you regarding this matter and you've chosen not to respond Heather without a prompt response I will move to the next step work direct action may be taken could impact you this matter is time sensitive that's why I need you or your representing attorney to contact my office immediately to discuss the available options I have for you I can be reached at 855-334-4196 extension 124-6205 Heather I a.m. documenting this call is proof that you have yet again been notified of this critical matter do not disregard this message again this is Ms. Murphy with Community Bank you must contact me immediately at 855-334-4196 extension 124-6205…”

A live person (not an auto robocalled) left a voicemail on my cell phone, not for me, but for a man w/ my same last maiden name. Said it was regarding business w/ Community Bank. She sounded pleasant and real, which instantly made me wonder if my info is being used for identity theft...until I Googled and found the info on 800-Notes. Caller ID says it's from Reynoldsburg, OH. Be careful, this caller sounds more legit than others.

I am not sure what a "rainwater person" is, but Comenity is easily found on the internet.  Using that information you can then find their published address and you can then send them a certified, return receipt "not me" letter.  Once you get the green card back and if they continue to call then you may be able to sue them and make them pay you for the harassment.  You can take the alternate approach and do nothing and then simply enjoy the continuing calls.  Your choice.
