I've gotten several calls from this number for an Andrea Smith--I have adv'd the callers SEVERAL times that Andrea does not reside at this number and to please stop calling and remove that # from their list.  Now, they just hang up on me when I tell them she doesn't live here.

I dont answer phone numbers that aren't familiar with me or aren't already in my phone. This number calls me several times a day and finally leaves a message in the evening, HOWEVER, the person has such a thick heavy forgein accent and talks so damn fast, that we can't understand what they are saying. Must not be too professional or too important. That or it's 'Peggy"

    sick of these people
I get calls constantly from these people. They accuse me of being the person they are looking for
and threaten further action. They attempt to intimidate and are probably not successful in actual
recovery of money. They are thugs and this type of method of collection is no different than a
person holding a gun to your head. Report them to the Better Business Bureau or Federal Trade
Commission. Maybe if they get enough complaints they will actually do something.

They called me about old debts that I paid off in 1999.  I could not believe I was talking to these idiots.  They told me I did not want to pay my bills and I should just get my debit card out and take care of the bill.  Wrong!!!!!!!!!!  I am reporting them to the FTC for harassment .

This company keeps calling asking for someone I don’t know. My fiancé has asked them repeatedly to stop and they continue to harass us, always asking for some random person. I have reported this company before, and I am beyond pissed that these calls are still coming through, when I’ve repeatedly reported them to the Donotcall Registry (waste of time obviously). As a graduate student, I stay up late working, and to be woken up time and time again by these people is getting old.

When people say they’re going to report this as harassment, they usually don’t follow through. Well, being the organized educator I am, I am starting a spreadsheet with detailed info about these callers, and I’m tempted to start a blog, which showcases the phone company as the perpetrator, considering I’m well aware that my number is being sold.

The funny thing about these people is they think everyone is wet behind the ears and can't use the internet to figure out who they are or their rights regarding collections.  The comments about having your attorney call them are totally insulting and obviously a tactic to scare people.  I'm sorry, but for a $500 credit card they now have charged off since I've been unemployed, get a life.....   If you plan to send it to a local attorney and take someone to court, there's a process and papers have to be served. Up to the time I became unemployed I was on time with almost every payment, except when they upped my charges and I didn't realize for three months and they got a huge late fee out of me.  This is old school tactics.  I'm sorry, but with the other cards I've dealt with, and worked with during this trying time, they've been NICE and not bullies.  Strange how when I got my taxes back, I paid them FIRST.  Food for thought, WFFNB. You will get paid, but don't expect me to call you back when you are well knows for how you treat people.  You can get your money and not be Toxic A***oles.

calling for someone who hasn't lived at this number for years.  Threatening call from Mr. Dyson. "Immediate attention from you or your attorney call back at 1-800-695-7444.  If you don't have a lawyer in would be in your best interest to return the call today.  Otherwise I will be forced to make a decision that will directly affect you."  Ooh everyone should be shaking in their boots .....  I love Jennifers comments that they think we are all so stupid.

"YOU ARE A TELEMARKETER, AND I DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH ANY COMPANY THAT USES TELEMARKETING AS A FORM OF ADVERTISING" (stolen from a comment on this web site -- I love it).  And do not answer name unavailable ever as calls are now starting to say that often.  Another comment from this web site says: When you press the number to have your number removed, all you do is confirm that your number is a working one.  Now I either block the numbers or I don't answer the phone at all.  Another comment was:  They sold your known active number to another scammer!!!  That is what they do when you call them back to opt out.  SO DON’T HAVE YOUR NUMBER REMOVED!

Let me explain my idea of ROBO CALLS. Each area code has 9,999,999 numbers fyi (7 digits). The program starts calling every number that it can in succession.  So they don't need to buy or obtain lists from anyone.  I am going to copy and paste and post this info for each number that calls me for this web site (9,999,98 numbers more to copy and paste to)

NOTHING IS GOING TO STOP THESE SCAMMERS AND LAZY COLLECTION AGENCIES (statute of limitations on debt:  http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/statuteLimitations.shtml)  who call everyone with the same name instead of looking up the right one and all we can do is block them or use call forward selective..  DNC does not work when they are robo dialing all possible random numbers. The authorities can not or will not help either.

So, just block them, DON'T ANSWER UNKNOWN CALLS, and continue using this great site for information to be in control of your own home and cell phone calls.  If it turns out that you did not answer a call from someone you know (number not on this site), just call them back.  No problem.  It’s a lot of work that I do (checking the number on this web site, blocking the caller, and making my own excel spreadsheet of numbers) but at least I FEEL like I have a little control of the situation. Maybe I'm delusional.  Another smart person on this web site said to save it to your contacts as spam 1, then spam 2, etc. so you can just ignore the call.

ITS OUR LIFE AND WE NEED TO TAKE IT BACK.
One person said to call forward selective to the FCC whose number is 1-717-338-2533

The Center for Investigative Reporting joined two news organizations in an investigation of groups that use telemarketers to raise money and they found is that most of the money is paid to telemarketers, leaving the charities with little, if anything. (3%)

Not only that reputable charitable organizations don't solicit donations by phone.

So it's good advice to remember to just say no to anyone who solicits over the phone unless you actually know the person calling.

I'm under 21 and I don't have a credit card or anything. My caller I'd says the number. I answered every time and I hang up. They then have the nerve to call me within 5 minutes of hanging up.

Call claiming my grandmother who is 96 has a Victoria Secrets card, Which is laughable since she has never owed a credit card in her life.  When I told them this they said they would be suing her.  I told them to go ahead with what they had to do as I was recording this conversation with my attorney and he verified that he was listening.  The OH!!  S+++, othr chioce words then a quick hang up.  Gotta love dumb people.

Total scam.  Ignore 'em.  Report it to the local police.  If they can't help you they can generally refer you to state authorities.
