In the past week, these morons have called me from the following numbers (as well as this one):  402-819-5259, 435-374-4895, and 901-443-3391.  Each time I block their number, they come right back with another one.  Isn't that illegal?

Called at 11:16am. Diverted by a service I subscribe to that intercepts robo-dialed calls (rhymes with SoNoHobo). I called back (*67) and got "Disabled Police and Sheriff's Foundation."

These people just keep calling.  I don't trust them because there are many people calling this a scam call.

Caller ID said it was from "DIS POLICE FD," so of course I didn't pick up and of course they did not leave a message. I have nothing against helping disabled police officers, but presume that my tax dollars already help with this. Also, with any "charity" you have no idea how much of a salary the principals provide for themselves, and how much of the donations actually go to helping anyone.

I've researched a number of the folks that call. The Washington state Secretary of State's website is a treasure-trove of data. What I've found is that you are typically called by a professional fundraiser, who keeps about 50% of the proceeds. Then most of the "charities" spend 50-80% of that on internal operations. So if you give the fundraiser $100, only $10 to $25 actually gets spent on "program services" which could be as broad as "increasing awareness of (disease)".
I give to certain organizations that I trust, where I know how effectively the money is being used. The professional fundraisers need not call me.
