"May I speak to the lady of the house?" is how the caller begins. I disconnect the call (not a hang-up, which is different) immediately. A message has never been left if they call when I do not answer. There is no lady of the house and if they do not know this there should be no call. It is bothersome.

At my business I used to get calls soliciting for the Michigan Fraternal Order of Police. I'm not sure any such legitimate organization exists. It may all be a sham or the FOP gets very little of any money collected. This is a boiler room operation. If you give them money, you will be carpet bombed with future requests.

Don't Give Money.   Might be:  JAK Productions, Inc., or Community Services, Inc. that are telemarketers.   little money goes to real charity, search internet about these two.
