Received a call from some guy -- or computer-generated voice -- who begins by making a joke about how his kids never listen to him.  (This is called "establishing a rapport with the audience".)  He continues by saying that he is calling on behalf of the Massachusetts chapter of the National Police Support Fund, and is seeking a pledge for a contribution for the fine men and women in blue who blah blah blah...  Yes, they ARE fine men and women in blue but NO, I'm sure he is not representing their best interests.  In fact, the Better Business Bureau issued a warning on November 8 of this year about a number of suspicious aspects of the Fund, including their description of themselves as a Political Action Committee and not a charity.  Donate to a real charity instead.

call looking for donations for Boston Police... didn't recognize the organization, Somerville, ma... I hung up and blocked

Forgot to mention.... I recognized the voice on the phone from previous charity calls.  one from medford and one from Lowell, ma.. so I'm not sure how legit they really are... be careful... if they tell you leave the donation taped to the front door, like when they called from the Lowell area, don't do it!!!! I've read elsewhere that that's not a legit charity when they do that.
