why the goofy call

I got a call from this number. When I called it back it kept me on hold until the next representative was available. When I finally got a live person all they wanted was my name and address. When I asked who they were, they repeated they wanted my name and address. I said not without knowing who you are and what you want. They said they could tell me that until I gave them my name and address. I then said then you won't get any infromation from me and hung up.
