I've been receiving calls from this number for a while perhpas a few months.  They constantly call my work place about 5-9 times a day.  When I pick up the phone to see who, there was silence.  But if you hold on for about a minute or so, a person will be on the phone.

The person (female) told me that its company is EDU and she said I may qualify to have my student loan interest rate be lower.  I told her I am not interested and to take my number off their calling list.  She responded by saying that she will constantly call my work place 100 times a day until I give her information to see if I qualify to have my loan interest lower.

Well, the next day I am getting 6 calls from them.  I just let it ring and go through answer machine or pick up and hang up immediately.

Anyone has any suggestion to fight back?

They are rude.  There must be some law against calling work place.  Even telemarketer has to take your number off the calling list at your request or collection agencies are not allowed to call one's work place.

This number calls everyday and asks for "Tammy".  I inform them that they have the wrong number. Every time they say they understand and then call back later.  In the beginning, the ID showed EDU. Now it is unavailable or blocked.  Today, when she said "I understand" I told her someone calls everyday and to please take me off their list.  Then in a rude tone, she told me to "have a nice day."

These people are very rude. I have threatened them with harrassment charges and calling my lawyer. The lady told me that if I had been placed on the do not call list it would take three to five days for the calls to stop. I responded by telling her my name has supposedly been on this do not call list for at least two months. They call three, four, and five times a day every day. But, the worst is they call at nine o'clock at night and wake up my three year old. I am a pissed off mom who needs her sleep. I am ready to take action what do I do?

I called this number 1-(800)-840-9202 and talked with a women who said she would take me off the call list.  Thats their customer service line so she was a little shocked when I told her what they did and that I was receiving unsolicited calls from her employer.  I told her I expected the calls to stop.  We'll see what happens but given the comments I'll keep my expectations low.  However I do have a plan B.  If they do continue to call then my plan is simple.  I'll start calling them at all times in the day and take as much time up on the phone, with as many managers, operators, etc. until they get as tired of me as I am of them.  I'll start calling them for the time, weather, recommendations on movies, etc.  Trust me you can be as irritating to them as they are to you - just be immaginitive.

I don't know who the hell gave out my number to these student loan consolidation businesses but I AM BEING CALLED ALL DAY LONG.  And THIS particular number CALLS EVERY NIGHT.  There is NO ONE THERE and it disconnects.  No surprise it is YET ANOTHER f***ing STUDENT LOAN CONSOLIDATION company.  I will NEVER again let me student loan provider have ANYTHING but my address to contact me.

Multiple calls a day from these people. They won't stop.
Call the company and ask to be removed and they say it takes 5-7 days.
There has to be some way to stop these people.

Info is bought from the Loan providers. So, if you have a stundent loan, that compnay will sell your contant info to companies. It sucks, but there is no way around it. I told the loan compnay i was with to never give my info out to anyone, but a week after getting out of school the phone calls started.

    AM.
I called 1-(800)-840-9202 and told them to place my name on a "do not call" list.  He said, "I'm doing that right now, ma'am.  Goodbye."  And hung up.  We'll see what happens.  These people totally suck.
