Have received phone calls from 623-238-6196.  Caller ID is PROMO PRODUCT.
No one answers. No response on the line.

Yesterday, I also received a phone call from PROMO PRODUCT (623-238-6196) and no one answered. What reason would they have for doing this?

caller id says phoenix arizona 623-238-6196 people wanted ss# for activation of cell phone they said I would recieve in 5 to 7 days .... will let ya know if it arrives

Got a call this morning (8-23-2007), no message and no one there when I answer.

Got a call from 623-238-6196 at 5:45 pm. No message on answering machine. Caller ID said Glendale, AZ.

NEVER give out your social security number!!  They probably have scammed you.

Have recevied multiple calls from this number, although never am at home when called.  Never leaves a message.  Have tried calling this number from home, work, and cell -- doesn't 'ring' (doesn't do anything), very odd.

I have VoIP however, so just set that when said number calls, will go straight to voice-mail.

Have rec call numerous days in a row. No message is left. When I called the number back it goes into voicemail with a male voice in broken english saying "Welcome, you have reached customer care please leave your name and phone number with a brief note.

Have received repeated calls from 623-238-6196.  No message.  No answer on callback.

Wife recieved a call @ 11:27AM on 8/27/07 telling her she won a cell phone.  This is the same number I told them a week ago that we are on the National Do Not Call list and to remove me from the list.  I reported them to the National Do not Call web site and will do again.

Have also received numerous calls from this person, encountering either nobody on line or a person with very poor English asking for a somebody Smith; ignores fact that we are on Do Not Call and have asked to be taken off the list. Originated from Phoenix, AZ; although we don't have caller ID used call back feature to find out number and also that it was Telstar and a Verizon cell phone number. Person calls all hours of the day and night. Will go to Florida's AG site to report this number, hopefully they could take some action also.

I have been receiving unsolicited sales calls at my house from this number 623-238-6196 even though I am on the Do Not Call List.  Moreover, on my caller ID, it comes up as a cellular call, although a Google search links it to a PROMO PRODUCT.   They have tried to sell me a cell phone, or give me one for a trial basis, if I wound give them my social security number.  When I refused, they switched and tried to sell me a mortgage.   It felt like a scam so I gave them no personal information, I'm just trying to let someone know what is going on.  

This happened on two different occasions.  Both operators spoke extremely accented, nearly unintelligible English.  I can't say where the accent was from though, other than not Spanish, and probably not any other Western European language.  Eastern Europe, maybe, but I'm not sure.

I intend to tell them off the next time they call me, to get them to stop, but I'd appreciate someone looking into this to protect others who aren't as scam savvy.  Besides, the constant calls are annoying.

I agree with the person above me.  You were scammed.  You should never give out your SS # out to anyone on the phone.  If you wanted to get a cell phone you should've visited your local cellular provider retail location or authorized cellular dealer retail location.

Next time this person/business calls I'm pulling out my whistle and blowing loud and long - maybe that will stop them!

Someone called me from this number, but didn't leave a message. Now I know to not answer it if they call back!

Just got a call from them, too. They are probably trying to find numbers to sell. If someone answers, it goes onto the list of numbers to sell.

The reason you don't get an answer when you pick up the phone is that they are trying to figure out when the best time is to call you by going by what time of day you answer the phone the most. It is usually a machine that is doing the calling. I got a person once and told them to learn to speak proper English before they started calling Americans to annoy them with their bull. Then I said do not call me again or I will the immigration people on them and have them deported! I am not nice to telemarketers

Everybody please just use this tactic against all telemarketers!!!
This is extremely effective against all people that are not supposed to be calling you.
1) Have a airhorn next to the phone.
2) Call comes in, you answer and don't know who it is, and decide you want to answer.
3) They start talking about something they want to sell and you just go ahead and give them the airhorn blast in the ear and hang up or tell them that if they call again they will get more of that.
4) Go back and enjoy your day/night, you have done well.

This method has been extremely effective against those telemarketers, largely because they are probably deaf by now. I know that some of you think that this is extremely childish and I agree, but it is funny so don't judge me because I am doing something about it. The Do Not Call List is not very effective, because those damn telemarketers are finding ways to go around it. At least I'm taking the approach that if you want something done, do it yourself.
