- KayeDCouldn't understand a word this person was saying. I don't think I know anyone in that area, so I've blocked this number

- 'd Man| 1 replyCalls every day, even Saturdays and Sunday, sometimes 2-3 times a day, never leaves a message, no name in caller ID, just the number. Other sites say it is from Midland credit--not sure.
- Anonymous| 4 repliesI keep getting calls from multiple numbers in Arizona. This is one of them. I might get rid of my phone because I can't cope with the volume of junk, scam, and annoying calls I get every day from every state in the union.
- B-Edwards replies to AnonymousHave you tried a call blocker? Or a checking with you carrier about call blocking services. There apps for smart phones as well. You need to be very careful who you give a phone number to these days, and even with a call blocker it can take some time to cut down on unwanted calls. Remember to never pickup or call back a number you do not trust, or suspicious names in the caller ID. "No Name" is usually a sign of a junk or scam call.
- BenjaminIt's midland credit collection.
- Call type: Debt collector
- Monica| 11 repliesThis is a new number for me, but I have received many others from Az. I can not understand the man. Nice to know they can use so many numbers to annoy people. If it is a creditor as some say...most leave a message. I am more apt to reply when left messages from people who ennuciate English properly. However, with such poor speaking skills....seems like a scam.
- Caller: No idea
- BigA replies to Monica| 8 repliesMidland is not a creditor. They are a third party debt collector. As such they are required to follow Federal and State collection laws. They don't leave a message because if they did, they would then have to mail you a dunning letter that would inform you of your rights under the law.
- TLC replies to BigA| 7 repliesMidland is a creditor. They buy your previous debt from credit card companies, therefore you now owe them . Had previous dealings with them
- BigA replies to TLC| 4 repliesI guess then that there would have been no reason for people to sue them under the FDCPA which clearly does not cover creditors. I guess then that there would have been no reason for government agencies to fine them for illegal collection activity that was barred by the FDCPA. I can prove what I just posted, can you prove your point?
- CharlesAs a personal rule, I do not answer any unidentified numbers or calls (no caller ID). No VM are left. From previous posts, this could be Midland Credit.
- myayep, it's midland credit...I called them back to find out
- Caller: midland credit
- Call type: Debt collector
- TomNo message left
- Caller: Phoenix AZ
- JoyI think this is Midland credit. Calls me multiple times a day. No message. I answered once and they confirmed my name with me. I asked who it was multiple times and they said "this call may be recorded for quality assurance, please hold while I transfer you". I hung up. Indian guy with thick accent. Sorry, but if you can't even tell me who you are when I ask then it's not worth my time. Funny they think they can try and get money out of someone when they won't even identify themselves. Blocked the number now.

- Robert F| 7 repliesWherever you are from in the United States try calling your senator and congressperson and pressure them to pass federal legislation to make these calls illegal. This is harassment no matter how you cut it. I called my senator's Washington office about these calls and I'm waiting to hear back via e-mail. Why have a phone if you can't pick it up when it rings without worrying whether it's a scum bag creditor or a scam artist.

- BigA replies to Robert F| 6 repliesToo late, there already is a law that regulates debt collectors, passed in 1977 I believe. Had you taken the time to look into it, you would have found that you have multiple avenues of recourse, including suing them. Perhaps you should take the time to read?
You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested). Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it. Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter. You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to. Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment. If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it. Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front): http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
