Phone number in a phishing email supposedly from eFax. Didn't open the zip attachment because momma didn't raise no fool.

I just got one too, a new way to rip you off.

I just received an email that claimed a client was trying to contact us through efax... I looked up the number on this site then deleted the email.

Received this number as an ID for an e-fax. RIP-OFF! Did not open this. Warning!

This is an efax phishing malware attempt.

PrivacyStar says the phone number actually belongs to Sharp Electric Corp, but since we don't do business with them we assume some scammer is using their phone number as a label on a virus zip file.  Wouldn't dream of opening an efax message from an unknown sender!

Just received two of these emails.  If I don't recognize the sender I don't open the email, especially attachments.  Unfortunately, others at my company don't have the same logic.

Same as Jess and the others: faked email with this number as the alleged sender of a fax. Added to spam folder and deleted email.

Yes, I know many that still use eFax. Since many have eliminated phone lines it makes it work well. It's not that strange in business to have faxes sent, even in 2015.

I got these emails with the message "POTS modem 2 " - 1 page(s), Caller-ID: 1-630-226-2563"

Received two of these eFax emails with the message "POTS modem 2 " - 1 page(s), Caller-ID: 1-630-226-2563".  This is the second time in a week we've got malware/spam eFax that, of course, we don't open until we check it out.  Besides we have our fax service that everything is supposed to run through.  Thanks to 800 Notes and folks here for posting to verify that these are garbage from low-lifes.

Received email saying I had efax from 630-226-2563. As everyone else has said, DON'T OPEN! This is what my server reported in the body of the email:
This email was infected with a virus:  'Virus/CMU-201502-1423950236'.
The content of this message has been removed for your protection.
