Several missed calls from this number. Answered one call and caller very difficult to understand--something about my computer was picking up "something" every time I sent an email or went online. Hung up on him!
    Also, knew my real name!

Received a call from this number, caller stated he was calling from "Home Security Solutions" at which point I hung up, since it was an unsolicited sales/scam call.  Just another number added to the block/no-ring list.

I received a few calls from Brian Johnson (fake name). Caller had strong Indian accent. Numbers that appeared included 630.489.9056 and 617.960.0493. Stated I made a payroll advance from a company called Cash Advance. He had the last 4 digits of my ss number and knew that I had an account at a major bank. It is a scam. I asked for notification of the debt in writing which he could not provide. Threatened to get me fired and have the police come to arrest me. I calmly told caller he was a fraud and it was illegal to threaten a debtor with arrest and employment termination. I also explained that if it was a legitimate debt he would have to send the notification in writing.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:
