- What replies to Richproof did they provide you?
Name, address, original creditor? Anything?
Yep, good thing we don't believe everything we read on the Internet. Like your post... - JustinCase replies to RichWho'd you call there? Left plenty, but forgot to mention who it was you dealt with. We're supposed to buy it, yet you've given us zilch (proof) in terms of who the outfit is.
- D Ham| 2 repliesThis company called my home several times and in a very threatening way asked for my grandson. He does not live with me but I took a message and he was called back. But, they continued to phone my home. Seems a day care center, Little Nemos by the Bay, located in Spanish Fort, Alabama has hired them to collect a "debt" for $4,100 for non existent child care. ECC has been advised that this is a spurious "debt" and that unless calls and letters cease an attorney will become involved.I'm no sure how debt collectors operate, but it would seem to me that they would need proof that money was owed prior to beginning a collection process. Obviously, this is not the case.

- Yoda1725 replies to D HamYou will need to find a legally verifiable address for them, so you can mail them a cease and desist letter. However, they are most likely a fake debt collector. Their website, http://eccandassociates.doodlekit.com/contact , lists their address as :
Empire Credit and Collection
26 Railroad Ave #117
Babylon, NY 11702
Which is a UPS Store,
https://babylon-ny-4607.theupsstorelocal.com/ - BigA replies to D HamFirst, there is a report on what you need to know about these crooks on page one. Second, as Yoda said send them a certified, return receipt letter, although I would make it a debt validation letter.
- HoldenI hate getting random phone calls

- scambust replies to BigA| 1 replyThe address listed for ECC and Associates 26 Railroad Ave. Suite 117, Babylon, NY is a UPS store. I called and they have a #117 postal box. The phone # for UPS store # 4607 at this address is 631 321-8110
- BigA replies to scambustThey still have to file a USPS form 1093 using 2 forms of valid ID. The USPS might give you the information without a subpoena but usually requires one.
- BigAYou need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.59 you ever invested). Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it. Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter. You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to. Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment. If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it. Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front): http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

Everything else you need to know follows including at least two agencies where you should report their criminal activities.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

- RoSame guy answers as “mr gold” refused to give a written letter of supposed bill. Also uses the number 631-251-7511. Even for a text from this “ECC”. Doesn’t seem professional or legit to get a text. Call whatever company they claim you owe the debt to. A while back the Aarons rental company had a huge issue. Somehow client info was let out and people would use the info to sucker people into paying something they don’t owe. Always ask for a written letter of documentation of bill to be sent to your home to validate the bill. Call the company who they claim you owe the debt to. I don’t have debt but this company or mr gold definitely said I owed money to Xfinity, immediately knew it was scam/fraud being as I currently have Xfinity service and would make no sense to owe them something when I’ve had the service for years and never don’t pay. Even called them to ask to just be sure. Never pay anything without a proof letter.

- TSThey have been calling my phone a lot of times. CID says "Sag Harbor, NY" My husband answered the phone thinking that perhaps it was a friend who lives out in Sag Harbor, NY calling from a different phone. When he answered there was no one at the other end, just dead space.
