If not stop I will cancel all my sevices go to another comapny! - Peter| 2 repliesJust checked out my Rogers PAYGO activity statement for the last few months. There were 12 calls to my Voicemail from 647-278-9950 in December 2011, all charged at $0.40 each. I never access Voicemail so I don't know who sent the messages.
- Caller: Unknown
- st replies to JulianaThanks for all the information.
- Billy replies to Peter| 1 replyI also got a lot of message charge for that number. I guess Rogers likes that number. Anyway, thanks for the information above. I removed the voice message from my Pay as you go plan.
- Billy replies to BillyAfter I blocked the voice mail service and then I called my cell phone without answering it. It still went into my voice mail box and charge me money. Then I call *611 to check voicemail box function, it said no voicemail box function for my account. [***] Rogers.
Another finding is that any phone number called your pay as you go account and transferred into your voicemail box, it shows (647)278-9950. - Andre replies to mel| 2 repliesRogers is making a ton of money on your back, each time somebody contact your voicemail and hangs up before letting a voicmail they still charge .25 each call. Pass the word.
- Tom replies to melI had to turn off my voice mail because of this number. It stopped the charges, I think.
- enogcaSomeone else is calling you. SInce Rogers is your prepaid provider, it goes through them. If your voice mail isn't setup a message comes on to the caller saying voice mail not setup. I think no matter who you go through you will be charged for the call.
- Scammed Again!I too have been getting calls from 647-278-9950 for the last 3 months. Ironically these calls started immediately after talking to a Rogers technition re my Internet service, when I had to explain that I only use a cell phone now instead of a landline. I called rogers paygo to complain of extra charges, and was told nothing could be done as far as refunding my money. I get calls every 2-3 minutes, x 24 hrs!!! This costs me big time! I told the rep of a similar scam on my landline phone, when I had it, that came from rogers, and that I think this is the same thing, only for pay phones. I had until today, voice-mail with my plan. Rogers offered to remove it, and did. I also asked for a print out of the last 3 months of call transactions, which they are going to mail me @ $3.95. These calls never show up on my phones call log. I only use this phone very infrequently, and $20.00 a month does it for me, occasionally 40.00, some times. I now have to pay $60.00/mo, just to make my regular calls. Faxing all records to CRTC as soon as possible. Going to Twitter and Facebook with it too! *I HATE ROGERS WITH A PASSION!!
- Caller: Rogers Voice mail
- Ticked OffSix calls from 647-278-9950 so far this month, sometimes at 50 cents per call, which means something or some computer calling is burning two minutes of charges to my voice box. Totally unware, since I don't receive a missed call notification, nor a voice box notification. Can only find out by consulting the call transactions history on the Rogers website.
According to other users on this message site, Rogers doesn't (or won't ) do anything. Not sure what corrective action can be taken.- Caller: Don't know
- PQICharged $13.20 for one voice mail call from the above number plus there are 1/2 dozen voicemails from this number. Wondered why the Rogers pay as you go phone $$ were going down.
- Caller: Don't know
- Call type: Telemarketer
- S KaneI can't count the calls I have had from that number 647-278-9950 and 647-278-9951. , one call was for $48.80 ugh !! I had just put $100.00 on my pay as you go for the summer holidays. Imagine my surprise when I had just over a dollar left. Lets get with it rogers.
- Caller: 647-2709950 & 647=2789951
- Richard replies to Andre| 1 replyI rarely use my phone, emergencies only. I have lost over 60.00 in the last year to this number 647-278-9950 (.25/call). Receiving calls from 705-865-2165 & 705-865-2167 at $2.00 /call, unable to trace this number? I will be cancelling my phone with Rogers. F3X8
- Richard replies to RichardAlso calls from 647-278-9952
- A CHANLooks like the scammers are back with 647-278-9950
Getting charged $0.25 each day by Rogers- Caller: no name
- John Doak (Montreal)I have free voice messaging from Rogers, so billing for this number is not a problem.
It does appear in my Blackberry 9780 Bold phone (when in phone mode) under Options, Call Forwarding, (then phone 'gets parameters from the new work" and Bingo- this seems to be the default number to where all my calls are forwarded to (i.e. Voice mail)- "If Busy" and "If NO Reply" and "If Not Reachable", but there's an option to forward to other contacts in my phone or specified.
HOWEVER, I have had my plan original 'free and included" features changed massively several times (Always in Rogers favour)!!! .
The worst was after getting free nights and weekends 6pm to 8am, for years on my Nokia, my new plan (w/ 2 free Blackberrys as had no new phone for many years) which ("Don't worry, you'll keep all your plan features from before") suddenly got reduced to:
"from 9pm to 7 am." . After DEMANDING they send me a voice file by email ("sorry sir, we'll never do that") then at least a transcript of the conversation in my booking of the new phones and plan (which never came) AND threatening legal action, and NOTING all the various Interactive Conversation numbers so they can chec what the various Rogers personnel said "I can't get that transcript for you, but we can have the supervisors listen to it and tell you what it said" Sure !!
The recording exists and they keep them, but try and get them. I threatened them with a subpoena, in a legal action for damages under contract violation and misleading the customer. More and more pressure, at one time, resulted in, if memory serves, their Adam Hoffman calling me on a Sunday afternoon from "The Office of the President" and "geez, it was all just a few mistakes", etc. etc. He reduced my bill from $3200±. to $74 !
Check your plan, and check other competitors NOW, and see if you really need that All N.American long distance and 2000 minutes, which they told me was my :New Plan" on Jan. 22, 2013. No one checked ANY of our 3 authorized personnel, and Rogers added FOUR new wireless lines as well...
all apparently they say was a 'fraud'.... yet.... how come NO ONE of our 3 personeel was called to authorize this huge billing potential increase?
Someone SHOULD start another class action for all the "mistakes" which for sure are systemic
and somehow, mostly always............. in Roger's favour !- Caller: Rogers
- NatashiaHello!
Wow. I'm really sorry to see all u ppl getting charged for this #
I setup my voicemail this evening and was going through my settings.
I noticed this number 1-647-278-9950 as the call forwarding # but it was disabled already. I disabled the other 3 settings. Then, I did a Google search on the number and found this forum topic.
I havent had any $$ loss on it. I am so glad I found this topic. Now going to try to delete it from my Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
Thank u and hope you all have ur problems fixed. - MedeaI, too, have been bombarded with that phone number leaving me voicemail (even though I don't use voicemail at all)...so I finally got through to Rogers and JUST got off the phone with them. Apparently this 647-278-9950 number is my voicemail number...not a company number. I told her about reading on a website how others are receiving voicemail from this same number and she stated that it is their voicemail number as well (we apparently are all in the same vicinity). Also, after looking closely to the billing FAQ I found this question:
"Am I charged if someone leaves me a voicemail on my Pay As You Go phone ?
Yes - you are charged for each voicemail received at your local airtime rate (which varies according to your price plan). Plus, you are charged to listen to your voicemail at the local airtime per minute rate. "
So, in other words not only are you billed for receiving a voicemail (even if you don't open it) you will get billed again if you DO open it...Unbelievable!!!
To let you know, she declined my request for getting reimbursed the charges I have accrued, so all I could do is demand the voicemail program to be cancelled and she stated it has been done. So like others in this site -- we shall see. Not impressed!!! - jwI have received over 30 calls this month on my cell phone from this number (647) 278-9950 and have been dinged a S/C for it picking up on my vm... WTF - how do I stop this????
