In any event,
Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a dime until the debt is validated
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.
If they are bothering you, report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.) The same goes for endless telephone harassment
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.
You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.
You have to get tuff with these people because, being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking), the only thing they understand.- Caller: Informational post

- sep| 1 replyI just got a call from Susan Fitz today! I saw the number come up on my phone and ignored it because I don't know anyone from Minneapolis, MN. I figured I'd just let it go to voicemail and call the number back later. A few hours later, I received calls from my parents, grandmother and both siblings saying that this same person had called them looking for me, stating that this was "the last attempt to contact me due to my failure to respond". The only thing is, I'd NEVER received a call from this number before today. She stated I needed to have an attorney contact them regarding my "case" because it was a federal call. (what?!) She did not leave the name of the company or state what the case was about because, supposedly, the answers to both of those questions are confidential.
At this point, I was upset that this unidentifiable person had pretty much stalked my family to get in contact with me. When I called the number back, someone picked up the phone and then hung up without saying hello. I figured since they had gone through so much trouble to get in contact with me that I'd call back. After all, she'd stalked my family until I'd answered so I'd was going to do the same to her. When she answered, she stated her name (Susan Fitz) and asked me to verify mine, then proceeded to RECITE THE LAST FOUR DIGITS OF MY SSN and asked me to verify if it was correct. I told her that I wasn't going to verify anything until she stated the name of her company and the nature of the call. She said that she could not provide that information until after I verified my SSN because it would be against the law for her to do so, to which I replied that I would not do so until I at least knew the name of the company, which she again stated was illegal for her to reveal. How is that illegal? This sounded VERY sketchy to me and I declined to verify. She then said that that was fine and wished me "good luck" in a very condescending way.
I'm not sure who this person is or how they were privy to so much of my personal information, including my family members' phone numbers, but I am extremely alarmed and terrified of how they were able to gain access to this information.- Caller: 651-204-1711
- Annoyed123| 1 replyI did not answer as I was at work, when I went to break I listened to the v-mail. There was a computer that said "please hang up now." A few seconds later a woman began to speak as if she was confused and searching for words. She stated this was a last attempt to communicate with me and that I need to call back and speak to counsel by 7pm today or they would follow through with legal action or something to that effect.

debt scammers. Well known scam artists. - jrd replies to sep"I'm not sure who this person is or how they were privy to so much of my personal information, including my family members' phone numbers, but I am extremely alarmed and terrified of how they were able to gain access to this information."

- LifeThese types of calls are from bottom feeders. At some point in your past you made a ghetto decision to let a bill default, maybe didn't pay an entire bill, default on a payday loan or cell phone bill. Your information was sold to a third party bottom feeder company who will continue to sell your information the rest of your life. Do not engage with these people!! Block their phone calls and explain the situation to your family members. Four years ago I actually called them back and once I got a hold of someone I asked them to email all of the details and I would share it with my lawyer, and if the debt were true and I did in fact owe it, then I would pay them. Well, after them telling me they would send the info, they never did!! They did however want my credit card info right then and there!! You are not going to get arrested and go to jail! If you have a true court case it will go to the courts!! It's not!! Do not engage and tell family members to not engage! Most people have new numbers anyways! They will not give the true info and they will steal your money and then start the harassing process all over again! Fill out a report on the Federal Trade Comission and local police and then relax!! Don't put to much info on this site either because they( bottom feeders) read these post as well! Don't let them scare you!! I told them I wish they would sue me just so I could know who they truly are, but they won't! It's a debt or maybe not! It may be just a scam! Do not give them money! Do not! It keeps them harassing people! Report all information! Voice mails now translate messages into script! I have it and I am forwarding it to the FTC! Relax and don't engage!
- Caller: Bottom feeders
- Life replies to CWG40You are correct! Scammers who have personal info! They get family meme era numbers fro the white pages!!
