Received a call from 651-255-5842 to promote the subscription of the Chicago Tribune. Being suspicious, they allowed me to call them back. While on the phone and reviewing this post, found out that the call was from AMI as I requested to call them back. I checked out information on AMI, they had my previous account number with the newspaper and seemed legitimate. I subscribed to the paper with their promotion, received the newspaper without problems as per the subscription and eventually received a $10 gift card for Target as promised by the company for subscribing. After calling the newspaper directly, they said they did use this outfit to promote their paper. This seems to be a legitimate telemarketer...@ least for the Chicago Tribune.

So... it turns out you'll pay more, then you'll save??? does that make sense??..
Actually that call was a scam, but oasis energy is not. Somebody was trying to trick you.
Oasisi Energy's number is 800-324-3046. I have them as my electricity supplier and i'm satisfied.

I have no problem using my real name since I turned them into the BBB. I have Oasis and I am not happy. They are rude on the phone when you want to cancel. They told me I would save 20% off my bill when I am paying 10% above Pennsylvania Power and Lights. Then they said I verbally signed a contract for 2 years and I dont remember saying they are my company for 2 years after they told me I could switch back any time but I will recieve a lower rate than PPL for 2 years. There has been over 12 complaints in the past year from 3.2011 to 11.2011 and mine will make 13. They have a F rating with the BBB.Do not use them.

I have not turned them into the BBB, however I am about to. I just got off the phone trying to cancel, and they also said that I agreed to a 2 year contract that I don't recall agreeing to. When they were initially telling me about their service, I asked about 10 times if it was a contract and if there were fees to cancel if I wasn't satisfied because I'm living in an apartment, so who knows how long I'll be living here (I didn't tell them that, though). They told me no every time, so I signed up. They told me I'd save 8% off my bill, and in reality, I'm saving on average $1, but I'm paying $11.90 in base monthly charges in addition to BGE's $20 that they're still charging me (Oasis didn't say that BGE would continue charging me.) I'm not saving anywhere near 8%, and when I called to cancel, they said I'd be charged $150 for cancelling said contract that "they recorded me agreeing to." However, when I asked for the recording of my conversation with their customer service reps, they declined, saying they don't record those. They told me all they could do for me is take off one monthly base charge. BBB and Maryland Public Service Commission it is!

Got a call this morning from this number - said he was going to sell us 8 weeks of the Sunday LA Times for $8 and give us a $10 gift card to Target. When I asked him how I could know that this was not a scam (we are on the Do Not Call list, after all, and are not LA Times subscribers and never have been), he gave me the number and the name of his manager and said the company was based in St. Paul, MN. Then he hung up on me.

Just received a call from the ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL newspaper regarding a new subscription to the Journal. I asked for prices which seemed reasonable but before I gave them my credit card number I thought I'd check it out. The caller gave me this number 651-255-5842 as a call back number. I called the Albuquerque Journal and was told they are using this service to increase their newspaper subscriptions.  The prices that were offered to me by the telemarketing service were 10% less than going directly through the Albuquerque Journal direwebsite.  This IS a LEGITIMATE number for the ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL.

Repeatedly received phone calls from this number.  The person said that they worked for The Daily Press and was calling about an unpaid subscription.  She wanted us to arrange, through her, to pay the bill.  This bill had been paid on-line two weeks earlier, but she insisted that the payment had not been made.  I'm concerned that the newspaper is selling our information.
