- cheeksI would like to know who are these people and what do they want?
- These people are horribleReceived a message from a Mr. Tony Barnes, super un-professional, rude, and arrogant! Have no idea who they are let alone what company they represent and when I asked where they received my phone number and what information they have, he responds as if he has a right to be angry at me. Excuse me I don't think so! I told him I didn’t appreciate the way he was talking to me and if this is how our conversation was going to go he or his “company” can forward me the so called information they have so I can look it over since they apparently have my information, then he has the nerve to hang up on me! I call back and a lady by the name of Ms. Chase or whatever answers and says she could help as I reiterated what was said when I called the first time. She was just as rude and un-professional as the first guy! Mind you this is all going on 7:40 a.m. my time! Ridiculous what these so called collectors are trying to act! These people need to learn some etiquette! I don’t speak ghetto so maybe that’s why they didn’t understand me!

- lindsy| 3 repliesI have this Frank guy calling me from Thomas and Williams telling me I have a bad check this company from 2009. I told him to please send me something so I can see it and he never did. He calls my work wanting to talk with me my manager told him I can not take personal calls and I could call him after work. He then starts telling her everything. He tells me that I am going to go to jail and he is going to come to my place of work and have me fired. I dont know what to do anymore. I have called the place that I supposed to have written the bad check to and they said if I did they would have written it off after a year. So they didnt even know what I was talking about. So I dont really know what to do. I call the cops and they tell me to call them if they come to my place of work. Really I am getting tired of this.

- Alfalfa replies to lindsy| 2 repliesThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

- tazzzz replies to Alfalfa| 1 replyreceived a call from nasty women in regards to a bad check that " fell through the cracks " given to Best Buy. She said we needed to pay up or would send to attorney office. When I questioned information, she gave me almost all false information that did not relate to us. She said " well, you still need to pay up " I did not relate my true information because I was getting a feeling that this was a scam. I told her she is the one that has to proof to me what they had and not up to me to give information. I gave her my mailing address ( which after I did this, I am kicking myself in the [***] because I know I shouldn't have ). Anyhow, I looked up the phone # and found that these idiots or scam artists. ( I knew it ! ) I have now called the FTC and filed complaint and resolution would be to put them in jail. I am also notifying my Attorney General with a complaint.
The only mistake I made was in giving them my address. I have over 20 + years in credit business so I know how these morons work.I hope they get caught. - marina Ortegascam artist

- Lisa replies to tazzzzYou're right; it is a scam. It's probably that fraudulent company, Click4Support, in which most of the calls are coming from India and the number spoofed to seem like it's the United Stares. The Connecticut Secretary of Stare and Attorney General's office doesn't do anything because they pay them tax money notwithstanding fraudulent companies aren't supposed to operate in the United States. Be careful they might put themselves as a proxy on your browser and put bogus certificates on there too.
