Scam! Called claiming to be from a fire fighter burn institute asking for donations.

Said he was from police & paramedics.

Addendum - I also tried to call number - recording says it's not in service so this is obviously a scam.

This is a scam.  A man called from this number, didn't say my name or his, and tried to get me to donate money to some bogus firefighter charity for burn victims.  When I said I don't donate money over the phone, he then went on to tell me he was just calling to see how much I could donate and then he would mail me some letter (obviously to get my name and address).  Just hang up or say you don't deal with solicitors.  My cell number is on the do-not-call registry, so it seemed very iffy even before I ran the number through Google.

A hard and fast rule!!

NEVER, NEVER ANSWER A CALL FROM A NUMBER YOU DON'T RECOGNIZE!!! If it's legit, they will leave a voice mail.

Had the same experience. Called to solicit donations for Firefighter Burn Victim organization. Did not "bite".

Same EXACT thing just happened to me. I told him ...well then you obviously have my number, so you must have my address ...send it there. I then hung up

I usually don't . Don't know what got in to me this time...

bogus firefighter number

SCAM.
I just got the same call as the others. I told him I don't feel comfortable donating money over the phone and he said he needs to know how much money I am able to donate before sending me a letter. I asked him what agency he was working with and he did not respond. I asked him for a website, and again he did not respond.

Called at 4:29pm. No voicemail.

Received a call from the same number as everyone else at 7:00 p.m.!!! I did not answer the phone and no message was left on my answering machine.

Got the same call at 7:26 pm. Did not answer. Now blocked!
