One of many numbers that start with 703-349 that call me and hang up leaving no message

I received a call from 703-349-6074.  They claimed to be calling on behalf of the [local] police, which they named, asking if they could count on my support for __________ (something to do with kids).  They claimed they weren't asking for any money up front.  I asked the guy to repeat what he had said.  He did.  I then asked if they had a website that I could look up for more information.

He hung up.

So I called the non-emergency number for the local police, and the police officer who answered was very polite and said that he didn't know of any fund raiser that they were doing right now.

It was evidently a scam.

no message on machine.  just says vienna, va.  they have called before.  their calls are blocked but
it is still  noted on telepone list.
