This number calls my cell phone, then my work phone then hangs up abruptly upon answering either.

I also received a call from this number for the past 2 days. When I try to answer they hang up and when I return the call it says "the number is not a working number". I looked it up and it says it is coming from Dale City, Virginia.

The number doesn't appear to be a working number. Someone is using the number to make you think it is a local call...

This is a number for Verizon Wireless looking for past due payment. They never leave a message and most often the line will disconnect when you answer. BE AWARE, about a two weeks after they are calling your service will get interrupted.
