Credit counseling service. Very pushy.

My daughter answered the call, when I got the phone.  They said that they are on a recorded line.  They were asking for my wife. I told them she was not here.  I asked them for the company name (ERC) and a phone number for my wife to call them back on. They would not give me the phone number and said that they could remove the number that they called on from their list.  The lady I talked to was friendly, but unable to give that info to me. I was not asking for in depth info about what it was about on why they needed to talk to my wife. I asked to speak to the manager and got one. I explained to the manager and informed her that I don't know what this is about and proceeded to tell me that they can't give out that number. I do not know if it a scam, a collection agency or what, but without a phone number, how would she get back to them?  So if you answer the phone just expect that they won't give you much or any info including a phone number if your not the one they are calling for.
