Solicitation....Called, left long message...how would it be to earn extra money....  How is it they can do this?

Is your telephone number posted anywhere on the Internet?

I run a small business and my number is available on the net.  I have discovered there are people using software programs to harvest phone numbers for the purposes of spamming later.

I am in Canada.  The calling number is in Virginia, USA.  I am also wondering if these people are calling out of the country because they can get fined for spamming Americans.

It sounded like odd music with weird sounds, no one said anything, it was a long message.

how can this be stopped? I do not want anyone calling my cell phone soliciting anything. I thought this was illegal.
